dented pipe
my pipe on my losi 8ight has taken a couple of bad hits the last few meetings and i have been looking for a way to remove the dents. me and my dad have removed most of the bad dents by hitting the dents out and i have heard the freezing them filled with water works? do the exhausts split if overfilled with water?
many thanks

It won't split if you do it right. Fill with water & plug the holes. Put it in the freezer & check it about every 10 minutes until the dents are gone the pull it out & let it melt out. I set a timer so I don't forget.

Correct. You don't want to just throw it in there overnight. You need to watch it closely. But it does work well.

I have never split one leaving it in over night but I have expanded the center of the pipe too much. The best way is to check it every 10 to 20 min. until the dents are gone.

Dented Pipe
I have a Go FEMCA 0801 pipe that was dented. I'm a stickler for neatness so I ordered a new one. Never thought about putting water and freezing it. Gonna try it and let you know. And about the cracking, I figure it would be like leaving a Coke or Pepsi in the freezer for an extended period. Terrible mess to clean up!

Dented Pipe
But the more you think about it, don't you think the water would just freeze in the shape of the inside of the pipe. It doesn't seem as if the water is smart enough to push out just the dent. Gonna have to send this to Myth Busters

I did this a month ago on a JP2 pipe. It works. It had a nice size dent in the side.
I filled it, block the pressure line with a piece of fuel line with a screw in it, sealed the other holes with a couple of caps and it worked flawlessly. I accidentally left mine in the freezer over night but it still worked out better then I expected. To avoid splits try not to make the seals water tight, doing this allows for a little water to spill out as it freezes and expands.
