Default D8T - What Are The Best/Required Upgrades For Racing?

hey guys. i did a little searching but couldn't find anything. i am hoping current D8T owners/racers will chime in!

I just ordered a D8T and want to get the needed upgrades for racing. a local racer told me a metal servo horn is required. also skid plates are required. so let me know what you guys think!

-metal servo horn
-skid plates

i run mine stock and have only ever snapped one front arm in and im going into my second season and iv won my last 3 races so i run mine pretty hard. only thing id recomend for upgrade is springs. orange rear blue front. this will give so a better feal and more steering.. and do get a aluminum front servo horn thats a must for any 8th scale..so save your moey from all the expensive upgrades and you can buy the best upgrade tires never have enough selection of tires lol

mine is box stock with the aluminum servo horn and DE racing skids. i have had it for i think two months now and i have raced it every weekend and most weekends saturday and sunday races. and i have yet to break one part or anything except on bearing in the rear diff case. i have also slightly bent an front axil but im still running it. these things will take some abuse whether people believe it or not. also lock tight everything that is medal to medal. other than that the truggy is very solid and easy to drive.

Default setup

Get some aluminum rear hub carriers if your track has jumps
aluminum servo horn, rear shock tower, m2c lower and outer hinge pins and a aluninum clutch with heavy 1.1 springs, I run the red Jammin shoes W/1.1 springs. This combo will run with anything and has won lots of races for me and My friend drove the car to a Nitro Challenge 45min main win at the Nitro Pit, so you know it's strong. I run the stock springs with Tys' setup. Good luck with your truggy

Default Wait..

Wait till you break something. Except the aluminum servo arm.

I'm on my 3rd gallon with my D8T and this last weekend was my first big race and I beat the HELL outta this thing. Honestly i'm shocked the only thing I broke was a front hub carrier.

I had next to no experience with big jumps and rythem sections so you can imagine it took me a while and a bunch of crashes to learn them.

For steering, neither. Look for the "raised" style from HB. However, I am using the RE one in the first link for throttle.

Definetley get the HB alum servo arm, the steering arm has to mounted on the bottom and clear the top of the servo case so it needs to be taller than the reg arms. Some people bend the reg ones but it's much better to just use the right piece. Other than that tires and fuel, lol! The driver is the best upgrade you can get!

i looked around a little for a raised servo horn...but was unsuccessful. link maybe??

i'm still reading up a little on tires. the track we run on is dry and a little dusty i think. granted i haven't driven on it since the remodel.

hb aluminum servo arm http://www.hotbodiesonline.com/products/en/67168.html

You really need to go to the Hot Bodies D8T thread. All this has been covered 5x times. Just skim thru it, you'll find nearly all your questions answered.
