I just got a rc8 and a ofna 1/8 starter box. When I push down on the box it won't turn over the buggy. The rubber wheel in the starter box starts to smoke. Why won't it turn my buggy over?

if the wheel on the starter box is hitting the flywheel and smoking, I would try pushing the car down harder or heating the engine before trying to start it so it will turn over easier. If its smoking its slipping.

if u dont have a heat gun use a hair dryer on high.this will work fine.

Are you positively sure the bump wheel lines up with the flywheel?

Best way to get it right is to take the engine out, and then align it with the pegs.

If it is a new or real tight motor, you can also try rotating the flywheel back the other wayuntil it gets tight. This will give the starter box a helping hand/ head start on getting the motor turning.
Heating a motor up is one of the easiest ways to help it turn over though.
Following to be used in a pinch, but not really recommended. If you do not have a way to heat it up, you can also try loosening the glow plug just a bit. This will lower the compression and usually makes it easier to turn over also. Just be sure to tighten it back up after you get it fired up, and before you start running it around on the ground.

make sure u didnt flood the motor, then u will never turn it over, but if its a new motor always heat it up to at least a gallon went through it

I got it. It was a hair off line and the bump was rubbing and melting. After adjusting the top of the box it now works great.
