Default running in engine - question

ok. starting to run in my engine and i'm onto the 2nd tank.

the tank was about 1/2 used. prob 8 minutes of running at a fast idle...

all of a sudden the revs jumped enormously. i have the power off so i adjusted the throttle position to what would be the closed position.

but the revs kept climbing. i had to shut the engine off before i did damage to the engine..

what may have caused this, and any help would be appreciated.

Did you adjust the idle to keep it running? If so this is what caused it as the carb was closed but the idel gap was adjusted to far for it to drop to normal.

Does your engine have a middle needle? I had a vspec speed that the middle needle was turned all the wY in and it did exactly what you are describing. Idk howthT needle got adjusted like that but I richened it up andnproblem solved.

Chech your fuel line in the tank. It could have gotten a hole in it. Also make sure your pressure line is OK too.

It did become to hot causing less pinch on the piston (which will go faster) and an early combustion.

Also on idle you have to use a rich setting for lubrication and cooling.
