I have been using lipos in everything for 3 years no problems. The problem is stupidity and people buying cheap stuff. Hong kong junk will do you in.

I have seen lipos fail when people short them out, plug them in backwards, puncture them, overcharge them, over discharge them.

Usually they swell up when they go bad. Prolly happens and then people continue to use them.

I am tired of electric guys saying the shit is cheaper cause its not, when you smoke a speedo in 8 scale (it does happen) it costs you mad money. Electric motors crap out. BL motors in theory last forever but they dont new stuff comes out etc. a proper charger and power supply is needed.

My bpy just switched to nitroz from e8's and he is pretty happy. I race electric 2wd buggy and nitro 8's.

Again ill say it....Cheap HK lipo's are Nothing different from the 100-200$ Name brand version's....there's barely a hand full of factories in the world for these kind of batteries and like it or not the Cheap cells are of the same quality.

You are correct in the fact when cells are abused they swell up and are questionable to use but i would Much rather have a 50$ pack swell Vs a 200$ pack....I have had Zero problem's with my "HK junk" as you so call it.

1/8 ESC's are in their infancy to a point and wont cost you anything after the fact Even If something does go wrong.....Tekin, Castle, Orion, Losi are ALL willing to help you out with new stuff if thing's go south...so claiming they will cost you "mad money" is 100% False.

Charger's now a days are up datable therefor you don't need a new charger every time a new cell tech comes out.

I have only one word for you anti-electric guys....

LiFE

We have nitro cars available also so I have to ride the fence on this one.....lol

For the record, ONE of the Casters went up in flames in Florida due to a problem with a Speedpassion ESC, but otherwise, it isn't an issue from what I have seen. However, to play Devil's Advocate against myself, I refuse to sell Lipos even though Caster offers them due to potential liability issues, but I have always been concerned about the charging side of things....

Maybe the solution is to just put fuses on everything like car stereo equipment, then at least if there is a short (other than internal, nothing you can do then) it would help with issues.

Either way, LiFE technology eliminates all these issues and makes everything MUCH safer. I am testing Maxamps ones and I am having great results except it is sort of disheartening that the voltage of the packs is slightly lower...but for most electric 1/8 guys, this truly isn't a bad thing....

I remember when Cain's car caught fire..... We had multiple discussions about it.

That is the reason the E-RTR's don't come with Lipo's---liability.
