Nitro Rustler wont start
Hi all
I have a Traxxas Nitro Rustler, havent run it for about 8 months, and now I cant start it. I have tried the following: resetting needles to factory settings new glow plug got glow starter and tried that instead of ez-start new fuel lines leaning out LSN fully charged ez-start & glow starter rebuilt engine & carb (and cracked the carb, so got a new body) cleared exhaust It turns the engine but it just wont run. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks in advance |
if the fuel is that old it could be that too. also do you feel good comprssion when it turns over, or does it feel too soft? also does the piston look ok? also is the glow ignitor charged? any gasket sets you could add? theres alot of possibilities to why it wont start. i hope this helps. oh are you priming it prior to trying to start it? if you dont prime it, it will take way longer to start.

It's primed by holding my finger over the exhaust for a few seconds. Also tried blowing in the fuel tube from the exhaust, so fuel is definitely reaching the carburetor.
Glow starter has full charge Fuel is new Compression feels ok and piston isn't damaged Fuel tank is new also |
Take the glow plug out and check it is good by putting the ignitor on it.If the coils get red hot then it's good. Now pick up the truck hold it so your manifold is facing down and turn the truck like you are draing the fuel from the engine into the pipe and dump what ever comes out through the stinger. Now connect you easy start with the plug out and hit it and see if fuel come out through the plug hole.If it does stop, put the plug back in and try and start it.

Engine isn't flooded and it's a new glow plug, also tried another new plug

sounds like no compression :(

Hmm, compression seems ok, and even if it was a bit soft it should still fire up at least long enough for the engine to get warm before the sleeve expands and stalls?
I had a go last night and while the motor was turning it sounded as if the fuel was burning against the bottom of the plug (a slight sizzle sound each cycle) but just wouldnt fire. Any other ideas? Cheers |
