Default vspec case question

what does the little washer do that goes in the carb neck that the carb rests on? i am changing carbs on my vspec and running a ninja carb.. so my question is do i still need to run that washer in the because the speed/ninja cases dont use it. so is it something that is specific to the vspec carb or the vspec case

do you need this if im not running the vspec carb? all it looks like it does is ust give the carb something to sit on instead of just being in there. doesnt really seem necessary

I have a older speed that has that washer. I assume it's there for a reason.

i kinda assume it is there for a reason too i just dont know what that reason is and if the motor would run the same without it. looking inside the case with it there and without it just doesnt seem like it serves a purpose except giving the carb something to rest on

I would leave it in. I don't think it would hurt running without it, but it's not a bad idea to leave it in there. Btw my Speeds have come with them in there too. I would think it's more based on the case it's in than the carb(as the carbs are identical) so I would leave it in there.
