Isn't throwing water on a lipo fire one of the worst things to do?

I have had an ESC go in flames due to a bad Lipo. But not as bad as in the video. My vehicle lost power, started sparking, and went pop! and into flames. But it was very easy to put out simply but blowing on it. Castle and Thunder Power replaced the ESC and Battery and got a whole new setup and a new motor even though nothing was wrong with the motor. LOL It looked sweet because I was running my nitro body and flames where going out the nitro engine cooling hole on the body. Nothing was melted on the car except the ESC. LOL If you sit there an watch it, it will turn out like the car in the video. It could always happen to a nitro vehicle as well if you are running lipo receiver pack.

Cheap lipo = fire hazard.

Good lipo = normally never fire hazard.

If you like your car get good lipo's.

Since this is the Nitro section, anyone ever seen or known a Nitro to catch fire/explode?

I agree about the Lipo's. Even when I had a problem in my electric truggy, the Lipo didn't catch fire the ESC did. Plus Lipos almost always show signs before hand if there's a fire. They balloon, get really hot, etc.

I have seen a Lipo receiver pack catch fire in a Savage X before.

i call 100% BS.....Cheap lipo's have NOTHING to do with them going up in smoke or Fire.....Abuse and wrong charger setting's cause a pack to fail in fire.

I've seen nitro vehicles in flames. Once my shop owner's buggy was shooting flames out the air filter. Don't ask me how or what caused it, but it was entertaining for a hot second.

Abuse in this case is probably too low C rating on the batteries.

Then do please show me a high end lipo burning: Flightpower, Hyperion, Kokam...

i have only seen fire from low end batteries: Zippy, Turnigy...

Kokam for example is high end and when they do catch fire (extremly rare) they self-extinguish.

At the ROAR electric 8th scale championship race I seen 2 thunder power hardcase batteries go up in flames. one was in the car the other was on a charger. I've used/owned SMC, hyperion, Thunder power and turnigy cells in all four of my electric 8th scale in the last 2 years, and the crappiest batteries of them all in terms of quality/battery life was the SMC and thunder power 40c I had. hell I bought brand new thunderpower 40c's just for the ROAR race and 2 months later both batteries crapped out on me.

+1, cheap lipos and cheap esc's might labeled as 1/8th scale or be advertised that it can handle the abuse, but they never will.

I've seen two of the Venom 5000mah 50c lipos go in 2 rounds, one dumped a cell and the other shorted it self(caught fire).

Hyperions may be softcase but they are the best I've ever run. I've ran mine for over a year now, Always charge them at 2c(10amps) at the track, after the 12-15 minute main I'll charge at 1c(5amps). I abuse these batteries when I race and they just keep asking for more
