Default Wonder if this will have an effect on us?

http://www.tcetoday.com/tcetoday/New...aspx?nid=12677

THE US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing to add 16 potentially carcinogenic chemicals to the Toxics Release Inventory (TRI), a listing of reportable chemicals.

The TRI is a publicly-available database containing information about the releases of toxic chemicals and related waste management activities. The addition would mark the first expansion of the list in over a decade.

The list, which was set up as part of the Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act, currently contains details of around 650 chemicals which are produced and used at some 22,000 industrial facilities in the US.

The 16 proposed additions include vinyl fluoride, furan, isoprene, and four polycyclic aromatic compounds - 1,6-dinitropyrene; 1,8-dinitropyrene; 6-nitrochrysene and 4-nitropyrene which are known to be persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic. The other proposed additions are: 1-amino-2,4-dibromoanthraquinone; 2,2-bis(bromomethyl)-1,3-propanediol; glycidol; methyleugenol; o-nitroanisole; nitromethane; phenolphthalein; tetrafluoroethylene and tetranitromethane.

The proposals are thought to affect around 175 chemical plants. The EPA expects to finalise the rule in early 2011.

Hopefully it will be based on the percentage of nitro that is used. However, nothing will suprise me with the current group of trash we have running the country now.

i don't think that means we can't buy it, as long as it is reported?

just looked up "TRI" and this wont' have any effect on us at all. It is mainly for the chemical plants that make it. And the right for citizens in a community to know about it's dangers and how to prepare.

It also makes it possible to hold companies liable.

What do you think happens when the company is held liable? Everything flows down stream.

Actually yes! A couple years ago when the going rate of nitro from VP was around $900 it was only $600 from China.

Yeah, if anything is passed like this or similar, it will affect the producers of these compounds. In the end, it might affect pricing of products that contain these compounds a little if factories have to spend money in order to track their use or production of them

BUt notification can be as simple as 1/4 page in the local news paper.. It's not like they have to hold a news conferences or commercials..

Couple of years ago, nitro prices at a few hobby shops hiked because supply chain was slow and most us distributors were out because of Olympics in China.
