Default How do my clutch shoes look? *PICS*

I am new to the nitro scene so bear with me.
Stripped my clutch bell today because a rock got stuck in between the CB and spur gear.
Took the CB off and I was a bit surprised to see my shoes in this condition, they are AE alum shoes. Only about 1.5 gallon through em.
Are they completely cooked?
Is this normal wear?

any suggestions as to what shoes I should go with next?

They need some lovin' . You have to file that crap off, and bevel them on the edges. Also, you will likely need to change out your bearings. I ran the stock clutch for a few gallons before switching to an M2C 4 shoe clutch...EXCELLENT upgrade, much better feel, much less wear running a soft shoe.

Your shoes still have life in them though, but they need to be maintained. Also, check your clutchbell for slag, and use a dremmel and a sanding drum to clean the aluminum off.

You should take a look at these. They are offered in the same compound as the Ascendancy 4 shoe clutch shoes. They offer a great feel with little wear.

listen to nitrfreakman, he knows what hes saying. hes helped me alot.

but by the looks of those shoes were haveing a real good time,i like to repalce the bearing in the cb after every race, they take a lot ofabuse, and there cheap enough. also after every race day ie. a few quals and a thirty min main i like to give them some love by filing them down. there was a very good article a few months back in xtreme rc about clutch wear and maintance. taught me a little bit i did not know, like beveling the edges for the what is called the mushroom effect. you can also try the dynamite extended life clutches if you arent gung ho on hop ups. i run them and no one pulls me out of the corners or on straights.

They're fine.

Shave'em down a bit, and rock on.

Cordarrow,

I wish I could give everyone a set of my clutch shoes to try out, but I dont think I could pull that off. I saw that Funkhouser was new to nitro so I wanted to help him have the best experiance he can. There is almost an endless amount of options out there for clutch shoes. Funkhouser will be running what the pro's run!

Justin

Thats all I can say! I am more concerned with the way your motor looks in the background. Maintenance and cleanliness are key with these things. Replace the shoes and springs and clean that poor motor.
