2 or 1 Front engine bearing seals?
 

Soon to be replacing my front engine bearing in my Axial .28 with a Boca MX series bearing.
Question is should I pull off one of the seal ( the one towards the engine) or leave it in place to help prevent the dreaded "leak".
Stock the motor came with it removed, but I've read it still will recieve lube with the seals inplace.

Rick, just replace mine with a double sealed ceramic. Removed the inside seal to make sure it gets lubed up good. The spin of the bearing and a single seal should be enough to seal from air leaks. My opinion...I know opinions are like a$$holes...and mine is bigger and stinkier than most!!!

I would leave both seals on, as you mentioned you are less likely to have a leak. I run Boca's MX ceramic series always with both seals in place.

I run the too ceramics and I keep both seals on there. A buddy I race with uses the same bearings and he takes the inside seal off. No real difference they seem to last about the same. I don't think it really matters much.

Take out the inside seal and keep it, you can change out the front seal when it starts to leak more.

They aren't air tight, they just attempt to keep dirt out and oil in.

I just changed mine and I left it double sealed. I do not think there is a right or wrong way. I have ran bearings single sealed and double sealed and have not noticed a difference.

Take the inside seal off!
I rebuilt my V-spec and left both seals on and it destroyed the bearing and made the engine run hotter.
