Man, you guys better be glad you dont race slot cars. If you think ROAR rules are picky take a look at some of the slot car rules.

I agree though, the body has little to no effect on performance, and should not be mandated so much.

I only club race so I dont have to worry about it.

So what happens when life imitates art?

Imagine someone racing full size off road looks at these R/C cab forward bodies, and builds a 1:1 car to emulate our scaled down racers.

Default Hey ROAR...you are not the only bar in town!!!

Been around awhile in this hobby. Seen ROAR piss away many racers to the point of not joining again(anyone remember John Thawley!!). One thing I think ROAR fails to realize is that, like someone mentioned earlier, the only race that this really affects is the Nationals and maybe the regionals. That is only a handful of people for the nats each year....no big deal. The downer is that the companies that work so hard to sponsor these events are being told to alter their creative outlets...effectively making harder to grow the hobby that they, ROAR , wants to see prosper.

In my region(5) there are PLENTY of other series races and individual "big" races that don't care what body you are running. And even if the club/track chooses to adhere to ROAR rules as guidelines....that's all they will be .....just guidelines....that can be adjusted. I hope that Proline( love ya) and all the other companies keep pressing forward to make these bodies....ugly or not...available.

Just my 0.02

BTW:Wonder how long this thread lasts!!!

They will continue making whatever the community wants, which is apparently ugly ass bodies Race market is a very small portion of total sales.

So if I understand this correctly, Roar just wants the bodies to be form following function. Witch is pretty much most Major MFG. buggy bodies. So whats the problem?

I just don't get banning the body is all? what's so radical that it should equate to an instant DQ? I know I shouldn't have a problem with it but for those who like the body and all their tracks follow roar rules to the T it sucks.

Questions??

I generally do not have a problem with ROAR, but this takes it too far. All these bodies are doing is giving more down force to the rear wing, and a striking new look. maybe we should put Bed covers or camper shells on all Full sized Trucks just so that everything looks and reacts the same? no. On RedRC.net the report states that ROAR wants them to resemble "Full Scale" off-road vehicles, In which Truggys and Buggys alike look nothing like anything in the world that is full sized. That is what I do not get? Like people have previously mentioned ROAR will loose racers because of this. This will also cost companies there business, and hard time spent designing RACE specific bodies. In a sense some ROAR rules are good to make things fair in racing, but again this one makes no sense at all! I could understand for SC racing, but really 1:8 Buggys and Truggys?

THESE RULES ARENT NEW! ROAR made a statement months ago that something would happen if the bodies kept getting wilder.

NASCAR commentor; Their body will match the contours of the stock vehicle they're modeled after very closely. Notice the headlight stickers on them? These are all things that help the public identify with what they're seeing on the street.

Truggies dont match trophy trucks but they look like the same damn thing as a 2wd "racing monster truck." Their tire size and suspension setup (since some have the misguided notion all desert vehicles running trailing arms vice a-arms) more closely resembles that of a monster truck as well. People identify with that.

Why is it so difficult for you to accept the rule? Some of you have stated that it wont change the performance of the vehicle so again, what is the problem? You like the way they look so the rule has to change. Makes sense to me...

I think they look lame. My opinion.

I know they're illegal. Fact

I knew they would be illegal because ROAR stated as much months ago. Fact

You like the way they look. Opinion

ROAR is jacked up because you like the way they look. Opinion

1/8 will die a firey death because ROAR sucks. Opinion

You'll leave the hobby and there will be less bitching. Fact
You really dont get it do you. Its not about the rule. Its about a Governing body IE ROAR telling companies like Losi, Mugen, Proline, J-concepts what they can and cant make. And telling racers like use what we can and cant run. No governing body should have that kinda of power.

Now here are the fact you need to know.
1. When the Losi Cab forward truggy body came out, there was no rule on truggy bodies.
2. This rule was hinted at, Namely by ME in a thread 6 months ago. I told everyone this site that this rule was coming. ROAR then stated i was wrong and no rule would be made. Well, fast forward 6 months, and look what we have; New rules.
3. That thread that was pages long was erased, at the request of ROAR. hmm, wonder why. Because if people were able to read about whats going on, they would complain. But with that thread gone, it slips the mind of many people allowing this rule to added. I warned everyone on here, and was told i was wrong. I was even threatened with a law suit.

Now a plain and simple fact. If you dont like the Cab Forward body, buy a different body and run it.

Just want to repost this. Its from S-grid.

#2695 of 2878 by Dawn Sanchez (dawn) on Wed Nov 4 14:15:16 2009:

Trevor - Yep. That is why ROAR backed out and is now asking for the body companies to set some guidelines to follow to avoid having to go to an approval policy like on road bodies were forced into years ago.

The racers want to set the precedent of the new Losi style body for truggy, it would appear then Losi needs to work with the group to set those guidelines
Not even 5 months passed, and the Guidelines idea is gone. And this

#2702 of 2878 by Dawn Sanchez (dawn) on Wed Nov 4 16:29:52 2009:

just to be clear... in case anybody here actually lives and breathe with anything said on RC Tech...

ROAR DID NOT BAN ANY TRUGGY BODY!!!

What is happening though is a look at the truggy class to define the direction bodies should be going in the future to avoid a body approval process. First step is asking MFG's to define what they want, which will obviously be based on their sales, and produce to ROAR diagrams of what they feel should be stated as the standard in truggy bodies.

And, to be clear, yes, I have stated and I stand by the comment that I personally think the bodies are ugly and hate seeing the class go into something like a 'tadpole' or another term I affectionately have for it.... and the ROAR Excom voted to insert wording into the rule book for 2010 "cover shock towers". But, we also retracted that feeling those words were not going to solve the overall problem of these bodies being something unrecognizable in a vehicle... so, we decided to let the racers make the choice by which bodies they purchase.

I'm not sure why this is so hard to understand.....

and, thanks to you all for letting me vent. I'm assuming the average intelligence quotient here is at least 50 points higher than on RC Tech.

Can expect them to have any approved bodies yet. This was dropped in the manufacturers lap probably last week. I think it will be interesting an seeing what bodies do not get approved. I would bet the Proline Bulldog buggy will make that list.

I made my own 8th scale body a couple years ago for my Losi 8 and can be seen on my rc snowmobiles site It`s under "models" at the bottom.

I would post a picture of it but im a computer newb, maybe someone here could do it ? I love technology and think this rule is a shame !

Of course Proline's will be there. How does anyone think they put in sponsorships for an event? w/o sponsors, who's left to foot the event bill?
