I use industrial strength red loctite that I get from a tool shop close to my house. It works great especially for engines and motor mounts.

I almost always use the blue strength loc-tight. There are very few things that need Red and can cause more problems then it's worth. I would recommend to use blue strength first and go from there. My motor mounts screws work fine with blue and I have no reason for red.

As every one else has said...Blue for 98% of jobs...For thing's you DO Not want coming loose without some effort involved you can use Red.

Now there's which style of Loctite...Gel, Liquid or Stick

I prefer the Industrial style Stick and the Liquid....the Gel never seems to last me long enough to justify the price.

I use red stick loctight on pretty much everything. I never have problems getting screws out when I want them to. Worst case scenario is you will have to heat it up a bit to pop it loose. I will say that screws never come loose with this stuff unless you want them to. I use a very little bit of it on everything. I like the stick because you can control how much you put on the screw much easier than with liquid. I also find the stick stuff is not quite as strong as the liquid, which in this case is a good thing. Only place I use the red liquid is on CVD set screws.

I use blue on metal to metal only, never put threadlock when you screw into plastic. As far as motor mounts go, I use blue locktite when mounting the motor mount to the chassis. When I mount the motor to the motor mounts I use lock washers, that way I only have to set gear mesh once. Just use a ball end hex wrench to remove the four screws holding the motor into the mounts to do clutch or motor maintenance.

When you screw into plastic for the first time, you are creating "threads" in the plastic. If you use threadlock in plastic, when you remove the screw you will just strip the "threads" you just created instead of backing the screw out.

Not to mention loctight won't bond to plastic, and in some cases can even eat away at the plastic. Loctight + plastic is a no, no. If you must use something in plastic, use a small drop of CA tire glue.
