erratic tune, suspicious random flameouts, engine went from running great one weak to crap the next.
the best way i have found to check for air leaks is to fire up the engine on the box, and then while either blipping the throttle or just barely holding the throttle open steady, spray some break clean or carb clean, whatever you got on the neck of the carb. if the RPMs drop like it is wanting to die or if it does actually die, you are sucking air. if its not on the carb do the same thing on the back plate

I just started having these symptons this weekend with my ninja .21, it has a gallon of fuel through it. It starts revving high when it's at idle, it was tuned great and just started doin it...

Your problem is probably clutch then. Check for burrs or anything that may cause it to hang up. I know the OS engine line has a shorter than average lifespan, but unless you did something horribly wrong, there's no reason to have an airleak in the first gallon.

As for air leak, if your engine wont hold a tune, runs on, and kills plugs* then you probably have an air leak. A bad clutch can cause strange behavior and running on, but if you're killing plugs and the engine is older, you may have a leak.

90% of "air leaks" end up being clutch problems in my experience.
