OK, I'm subscribing to this thread....

Rob, I'm running a Nikon D50, with an 18-200 low-E glass lense. I'm going to try your settings, and methods and see if I can get some good shots at my local track.

I'm still learning about photography, so tips and hints like you posted are much appreciated.

Cool!

Feel free to ask any questions you might have. I am happy to answer any. Also, don't give up is my best advice lol. Shooting RC can be very frustrating at times. Even now, there are days when I spend the whole day shooting (over 1000 images) and it turns out I only like 5 or 10 of them lol. It just takes patience IMHO.

Great thread. I started shooting last year as a side hobby. I have a Nikon D5000. I would like some basic settings to get great shots of rc cars. I have had a few successes, but mostly misses.

Thanks for the comments everyone...

Integra, my basic setup is a Canon 20d camera (pretty old lol) and a Canon 70-200mm lens. I have owned both the F4 and F2.8 version of this lens and they seem equal to me for outdoor shooting. Dare I say the F4 might even be a tad sharper?

Recently I upgraded to the 50d but I havent shot RC with it yet...mostly modeling/fashion shoots (my other photography interest). I also hope to upgrade to the Canon 7d camera soon

I have also shot with the Canon 300mm F2.8 lens. I simply rented it for a couple of RC shoots. its way expensive (around $4000 i believe) That;s a great lens for RC too just not something I want to purchase hehehe.

But really, IMHO, great shots can also be had with a simple SLR camera and the basic kit lens.
