And could I also assume that if I run a SMALL gap, then it would smoothe out the bottom as-well?...because it would be more top-end based?

Talking Modified motors

I've been in the hobby a while and I have only raced electric stock. I'd like to learn more about mod motors so I can make a better informed motor buying decision.

The lower a single wind mod motor is the faster it is from what I understand. What effect does adding wires have on the torque/rpm scale (ex. double, triple, quad)?

Any other mod info would be appreciated.

mafia - All correct! You're catching on!

Bad Attitude - The stock 19 turn motor in the RTR II is pretty good actually..so going to the P2K2 might be a step down in speed.

O-Doggy - What are you riding now? Didn't you just get a Z400? I haven't been to the desert in years . And I thought the retail industry was supposed to slow down after Christmas? It's been worse!

Casper - I don't have the slightest idea how things are going out there.

Rysuleod - A single or double will have more torque than a triple or quad, which will have more top end. More timing will give you more top end and less battery life while less timing will give you more bottom end and usually more drag brake.

In mod racing, slower is faster to all but the top small percentage of racers. Just because Kinwald and Francis can control a 10 turn in their trucks doesn't mean most of the world can; your best bet is to start out with something mild (like a 14) and then buy new armatures as you get better at controlling the power. I use a 14x1 in my BK2 and some of the smaller tracks we race on, and it's still more than enough power to wheelie over backwards at any time during the lap!

Morrow - Cool, but not fast if you have to let off to control it!

I think parts are starting to ship out now. So Cal got some rims in three days ago for the AD2. No other parts yet but it looks like the parts are starting to trickle out. Mid Jan is only a week away!
