Q's about OFNA Ultra LX-1
 

Hey wuts, up. New to this site looking for some good input on some questions that i have. I own a OFNA Ultra LX-1 thats bone stock other than having the pull start removed and installed a torque start backplate for easier starting. Anyways, i've been doing a little browsing and seein that some people are having problems with the servos being 2 weak. I've recently noticed my steering servo (ofna sx-0001) will hardly turn the wheels, not sure if it's just the cold weather here, and i had fully charged batteries, but whats a recommended upgrade? will the sx-0002 be a perfect decision? Also found a few people complaining about the springs being 2 weak. Wut would be a wise upgrade for that also? Any other input on problems or issues people had with this model would greatly be appreciated.

Hitec servo's would be the way to go.

Doesn't have to be the Digital units unless you just *want* to.

The 965MG or 985MG is a great; economical unit.

If you want something that you can use if you decide to start racing and probably would carry on to your next vehicle, spring for the 7XXX series Digital units.

Lets see. Servos - must replace, they are just plain junk. Ring gears on the diff. must replace. to weak, will strip out in no time with that .28 motor. Front springs should go up to blues 'cause they make it push(understeer) after the servo upgrade. Shock oil- 35wt frt.-40wt rear. Diff. oil. I found 5-7-3 just about right. That .28 will only last about 4-5 gal. befor it lets go, the push rod blow out and poke a hole in the block. But untill then that thing rocks. If your going to race you need to switch to a .21 anyway. Thats the rules, it is what it is. And I won't even talk about the radio. All in all its a good rig to get started with and learn with. Its a tank and will put up with some trashing but if you hit things parts fly. Anything else PM me and I'll help out. Nitrohouse.com for parts and OFNA.com for info. Good luck and have fun.

Just wondering, i will for sure be replacing the steering servo but does the throttle servo really need to be replaced 2? I havn't noticed any problems with it and its not like i'm getting the buggy race ready, i already know the platform of the vehicle is not made for it in the first place.

Also, I figured i would need to replace the springs but im unsure with what 2 exactly replace them with. Replace them with blue springs? Can you be more specific or is that just "code" for r/c's that blue springs are more stiff than black ones?

Spring color is just for identification purposes within a brand/company lineup.

Colors do not interchange across brands.

The guy posting above you was referencing to Ofna's springs for your car.

Don't have to replace the throttle servo if you're happy with it and it's operating properly.

I'm not aware of which shocks but if they're the 13mm diameter "classic" ofna units; I highly suggest the Yellow spring set and these shock pistons...

30/35 wt. oil with those springs works pretty well.

You can also drill the holes to your liking and up the oil weights. 35/40 (F/R) also worked pretty good.

I guess i don't have enough posts to allow me to post URL's but on towerhobbies.com i found "Ofna Spring Truggy 13mm Blue" stock #LXTUY8 or Ofnas stock #40641. Would these be the hard springs? i cannot find blues for the buggy, just yellow(soft) and red (medium). Would these blue springs that are for the OFNA truggy be the stiffest and wut i need for my LX1?
