Default New purchase need advice coming back after 8 years.

Hi Guys.

Coming back to dirt racing after about 8 years. I have decided to go with the losi 8 2.0. What engine and servos do you guys recommend. Which online shops should i purchase everything from and what supporting parts and mods do you recommend, i want to do it right the first time. Do you recommend a complete back up car or just a second parts car.

Thanks in advance.

Are you mainly club racing?

I run the 2.0, I run a Powerhouse Novarossi N21R modded by Mark. At $170, it's plenty for club racing, and some bigger events

I run Hitec servos. I would definitely get the Losi aluminum servo horn, and people say it's not necessary, but I run a dynamite aluminum throttle horn too.

I've got about 8 races on it, haven't broken anything, and haven't seen the need for any upgrades yet. I would get a set of dynamite max life clutch shoes, the stock clutch wears pretty quick.

I order all of my stuff from carolinasrc.com. In case they don't have what I need, I use amainhobbies or myatomic.com

I run a 7955 steering, and a 5925MG throttle. Works perfect. I have a 7965MG in my box for a backup.

The losi 2.0 would be a good choice. The motor I would say don't get nothing real expensive yet. The Novarossi N21R would be a good one to start with. Shoot for a starter you probably don't even have to mod it. When you get the servos don't go cheap. People told me that and I didn't believe them. Well now I do. I found out the hard way. The Hitech 7955 is a great servo. You can use that on both throttle and steering if you want to.
All of the above mentioned hobby stores are all good places to start if you don't have a local one.
As for back up parts, I just started racing myself and what I did was started with what broke I replaced. Now I just buy back up parts that I have replaced once before. Once you get into it you will figure out what parts you need to buy for back ups.

Most of all, and no matter what. Just have FUN!!! This has to be the best hobby there is.
