Default mugen mbx6t vs mbx5t

hi there,
i see the 6 has been out for a year or so but the 5 gets such praise,
would a 5 be better than the 6?
or is that just a pipe dream.
the 6 says longer wider...usual hype for the new product

found some nib 5's and can be found used of course

i am looking for maximum peformance and woow factor when bashing on homemade track. no competition, just adreniline!

If you are only bashing, then no point in having the 6T imho. The 5 will serve you well and be alot cheaper to get hold of.

yes used would be cheaper!!!
but lets take money out of the question.

let me refrase the question ....

is the 6 as good as the 5?

many good things about the 5.

I agree with Flip.

I'v found,
The diffs etc are more durrable in the 5T than the 6T, the 5T is an all around more durrable Truggy for bashing etc, The 6T has some great improvements for racing (handling, speed, etc) but I feel is over kill if only plan on bashing.

Don't get me wrong, the 5T I have with a BCE chassis is still fast enouph for racing, but my 6T is easilly atleast a second per lap quicker without even trying.

I'll be selling my 5T's soon if your in the land down under keep your eye's on the Aussie fopr sale section. Posting soon.

I went from a 5T to a 6 last year and as others have stated the 6T is a better truck. It does every thing better but if all your doing is back yard bashing/racing save your money, the 5T is very tough.

well you did say that you had a losi 1.0 truggy...

first things first...the 5t and 6t are both completely different trucks.

the 8ight-t 1.0 is basically the 5t.
the 8ight-t 2.0 is basically the 6t.

different companies.

now...durability...
the 5t seems to be a brick while the 1.0 has seen its worse days in durability.
the 6t is also somewhat of a brick besides for the picky diff problem(operator error) and the faulty front arms. havent heard really anything about 2.0 breakage problems.
please always remember. not everything is a tank(even tanks). you crash. it will break.

to me it sounds like you want something new. you already have a 1.0
so...get the 6t or the 2.0 and have fun

Most that own Mugens will tell you they are brilliant. The build quality is excellent and they are extremely tough whilst remaining one of the lighter trucks on the market.

You could fit a 6t body on a 5 and not many would know the difference.

You asked if it was worth buying a 6 over a 5 for bashing, you got ya answer.

If you are asking "I've decided to buy a 6 and would like to now confirm I made a good choice" then yeah, you made a good choice.

The 6 is an expensive up to date race machine. You could bash it around, but expect more failures of expensive parts such as pinion gears and diff gears than you would on the 5.

Just trying to save ya money whilst still getting the results ya want. If ya have the money to burn, get an up to date RC8T/Losi/Mugen/Xray. These are all designed for racing and as such are lightened to the limit.

awsome, thank you for your opinion.
i like that idea of the new thing, not sure what yet.

i just got back from my lhs. he sure likes me. lol
he says he can get mugen but not sure how fast he might be able to get parts. ( ya, he knows i need parts often ) lol ... seeing as i was getting parts for three different trucks today!

so get to talking between other customers,
and he says hot bodies d8t would be good for what i want then shoved the box in front of me on the counter to let me see what it needed.
the owner is a former rc racer seems to know alot more than he lets on at first.
now that i bring up the top and use the high dollar names.

i put the d8t back on the shelf for him and just bought the march issue of xtreme rc cars. because what do you see first on the cover,
the ten-t ...i have this in my head as well ...
and what do you know at the bottom of the front page
TESTED
traxxas,
kyosho,
mugen seiki MBX-6T M-SPEC

so i got something else to fill my head and keep my brain on spin!

Stick with the Mugen. toughest truck available IMO. I have almost completed a season on mine with only one broken lower front a arm. I beat my MBX5T into the ground every race(drive on my top and sides). Been through 3 bodies.
I have nothing bad to say about Mugen at all. I have watched other trucks and pretty much know thier weaknesses and will not be buying another brand. The MBX6T Has its weakpoints but that is part of race engineering. lighter weaker. My suggestion is if you want a truck you can jump 20 feet in the air , land it on its roof and not screw it up then go with the MBX5T. all others will disapoint your wallet.
