Default Starter Box Lipo

What Lipo's are you guys running in your starter boxes. OFNA to be specific. I have been using the 90 pound gel cell and its getting old and needs replaced. I just don't like the power of it. I used a starter box from someone else the other day with lipo and it had a lot more kick to it. Looking for the compromise between price and longevity. C rating???? etc........ Should I rewire with heavier gauge wire??

Thanks in advance....

any 4 cell 14.8v lipo at least 20c discharge rate. 2500mah will work a full day with multiple cars. go as high as you want though

edit: yes, rewire it. 12ga. deans noodle is the best with some deans ultra plugs youll be set.

i use 2 3500 40c lipo's.. i had them sitting around.. they came from my sedan racing. i also use 2 3400 25c lipo's and they are about the same kick from either set. the higher the mah the longer between charges.. with the ofna box i did not rewire... just changed ends to deans.. only because i had them in the pit bag... ant lipo will be better then a gel cell... jeremy

I have the ofna blue truggy box and I just finally made the lipo switch. However I went the cheap route and ordered one of the bLue lipo 4s 2200 20c from hobbypartz.com I could t be happier! It balances well, shrink wrap was great and it turns my plus 4 over with the greatest of ease! I haven't used it in race day situation yet but for $18 and it ships from the USA and I had it in 3 days time from ordering I'm not complaining!

Just got this one for my Ofna Truggy box and it makes the dual motors scream!!!!Just gotta throw your connector of choice on it and zip tie it to the box after a couple holes are drilled.

+1 on a 4s 14.8v 20c 2200mah. I use one of those in my box and it starts several cars on race day. I have been using it in my ofna box for almost a year with great success.

+2 will be just the ticket

the gel cell is 12 volt and the lipo is 14.8 thats better than 2 1/2 volts more and more volts equal less amps so not as much battery is required

I fought with the decision to get the 20c thinking I needed more, but I can assure you more is not needed! I'd hate to see what the 30-40c lipos would do! It's just unnecessary!

To answer your question I use a maxamps 4s 25c 2200mAh lipo works great I can usually go two days of use before recharging. That is practice , 6 qualifiers, and 2 mains of use hope this helps good luck

not true...the more C a pack is capable of the better.......There is such thing as Too much....but a single 4S will never peak it......2 Stick pack lipo's with high mah and C rating will tho.

My biggest concern(and It may just be me) but even the 20c puts off enough power to where if the washer doesn't hit the contacts perfectly when you press down on the box that it's arcing off so much that it's melting the plastic around the contact that is on the switch side. I hope the way I'm explaining it makes sense. Have you ran across this issue? If so have you found a fix for it?

boxes melted back in the day with gel cells and Nicads and nimhs....lipo's are no different.

there are some guys who are installing relay's instead of relying on the little tabs to make the contact but imo its overkill and not needed.
