Default Gorilla?

I just bought the Gorilla Instant Glue...anyone have any experience w/ it? I was at Michaels craft store, had a 50% off coupon so I thought to try it as it was most expensive. I tend to like to find non-rc specific stuff that works well....generally if you can find a product, it'll be cheaper.

Just buy the AKA glue. I have had the rubber on the tire tear befor the glue let go of the rim or tire. the bead was still intack but the tire wasnt.

The go engeine GX-5R puts a hurt on tires.

Ok thanks for the heads up....it's funny though, I used it on plastic and it's killer!! I actually glued together a battery box lid from scrap sheets of ABS plastic I had! I'll keep it for plastics, go w/ something else for tires.

Default Glue Conspiracy

Ok, after buying a bottle of AKA, I saw that Gorilla Glue has a new "high-impact" CA, and the bottle is IDENTICAL to that of AKA's, with the exception of the cap's color. I picked up a bottle, and will be testing it out to see if there's a difference. The bottle ran $4.99 vs. the $9.99 for the AKA stuff.

Its all the same Glue. I have used the Gorilla for over a year now and it works GREAT just a little slow to set up but just as good as the AKA Glue.

And i have never had a seat of tires come unglued using the Gorilla glue.

Default Conflicting reports...

That's the Gorilla glue I referred to in my previous post. And it was ridiculously good on ABS plastic, I made a battery box lid! I have half a bottle left, I'm gonna give it a go after the latest feedback on it being just like the AKA. It is true that there are generally a few makers of a particular product and lots of different brand names to market the same thing!!!

I find it very plausible that we're paying the extra $5 for it to say 'AKA'. The marketing department knows that the rc consumer recognizes their brand to mean quality and charges a premium for a product that we can all get at craft stores all over the country for $3 with a coupon!

part of it is storage....How long has the gorilla been sitting on the shelf...i would Much rather pay a 3-4$ premium to ensure its as fresh as it can be and well AKA with the constant selling out of product you know that their stuff is fresher then the guys who sell out 1/2 as fast.

Where you getting your data from? Gorilla is a household name for all consumers, not just R/C. How many bottles of glue do you think Gorilla sells? More than AKA?

Storing the glue in the fridge probably helps to keep it "good".

Not "probably helps" Its how Cyanoacrylate glue is supposed to be stored...unless you want a weaker bond that is.

here's a little reading material i found with a quick search.
