Offroad Servos

Offroad Servos
I was thinking of buying a Tamiya 801XT. I have not run off road before and was wondering what kind of servos (Steering, and Throttle) people have found most suitable for 1/8 truggy racing. Thanks.

Throw in two Hitec 7955TG in there and call it a day. It can handle lipo 7.4v without a problem. Hitec released two newer servos the 7940 and 7950 and there are better then the 7955, but cost a bit more. The Hitec 7955TG for it's price and quality is the best servo out today in my opinion. If you decide to get the 7940 and 7950. The 7940 is for throttle and 7950 is for steering. The 7955TG will do go on both throttle and steering.

yes
The hitech ti gear servos are great for steering, but for throttle I prefer futaba. Beter resolution imo. and it's not necessary to put servos with huge torque and amp draw in the throttle area, just make sure it has 100 oz and around .13 transit time for quick acceleration...

i own the orion 1007 vortex servo on, my 1/8 buggy for the steering its pretty. good how long did your savox ,servo last you? the warranty isnt for very long though . i do like the orion vortex servo, for the truggy though i might try it.
and i do know that the savox servo, is the same as the orion servo.

Go with Hitec. My 5955 and 985 are over 4 years old and still kicking(just jinxed myself)...
Ive been using the 985mg lipo direct with no issues in my buggy and truggy.

WOW, thanks guys for the great replys. I guess the Hitec servos are popular among the off-road racers. I never really looked into Hitec servos before. I have only used Futaba servos in my 1/10 cars. Anyone else care to input?
Thanks.
Thanks.

For that reason alone I would use Hitec. They're good servo's and I hear their customer service in second to none.
I use AE's/ACE

In my opinion a good balance of speed/torque and I think they're smoother than the hitecs.

i really think hitec is more popular in ,offroad cause of the long warranty and the service is good. but i do think futaba and jr etc, servos last long too but there warranty isnt as good.
,
i say that cause i used a futaba diginal servo, on my steering and throttle on my 1/8 buggy and others and, never failed on me.
