Nice video. It appears that the video is stretched a little bit in width, or not tall enough in height. I don't know if that's the way it was encoded or the web page coding. What camera/editing software are you using?

Default Yea

Yea I screwed up a bit on that one. When I converted it to mp4. I use Sony Vegas Boris Fx and Graffiti and newblueFx shooting with a Canon XL2.

The camera shoots nice video. I'm shooting with a Sony PMW-EX3. What shutter speed and frame rate are you using? I typically shoot 30-60 fps with a 250 to 500 shutter speed.

Default Depends

I usually shoot at about the same speed unless its dark. We race a lot at night here in Tx. If I'm going to do some slo-mo post processing I use 60i otherwise I stay at 30p 16:9 settings. You loose too much temporal resolution trying to stretch out 30fps progressive. The Xl2 has native 16:9 ccd's so you have more pixels available that way. I'm just shoot for a hobby. I already knew how to do the computer stuff from working at Oracle.

Im' fortunate that the EX3 can shoot at 60P, but I have to cut the resolution down to 1280x720. It gives me good quality video at standard playback and I can drop it down to 20-25% in post and still have pretty good quality slo-mo. I still haven't found an ideal setting to avoid strobing in fast moving action, but perhaps I'm being too picky.

Here's one of the latest videos I shot. It rolls through some features on the product for the first minute and a half, but then it gets into the action stuff. Some of the footage is shot using a Contour HD 1080 camera, so the quality of the video isn't quite there, but it allows me to get some unique angles that I can't get with the big camera.

Default Nice shots

I wish I had some mobility so I could get those low angle shots. I use a couple of GS-80 and a GS330 on low tripods and or a Manfrotto magic arm. There is a fantastic slo mo program out there from the same people that make fields kit. Can't remember the name of it right off the bat but I tried it out and I'd buy it in a heartbeat if I had the money. Same deal with HD. My mother in law bought me the XL2 when my old Hi-8 camera died. She said I enjoy it so much I should have a decent camera. Otherwise I'd be shooting with the panasonic. I added a mattebox recently. I think it really helps with the depth of color I get. Good to see someone else that likes to get close up on the cars. They just look too tiny in most vids. I have to get all my stuff done in about an hour. Thats all the time I can spend on my feet without causing too much pain later on in the week. So I've learned to get a lot of good shots quickly. I started doing this to figure out why my 1:10 sprint car wouldn't turn properly. Then I gradually went to just doing the videos. Nice job you have there. I could live with it.
