Sealing carb and backplate?

I use the Permatex Black RTV Silicone Hi-Temp sealant. It's at your local auto parts store. I've never had an issue with it what so ever and it works darn good. I use it in moderation on the back plate and base of the carb. The key word is MODERATION. I wouldn't recommend slapping a big blob on your engine where it could damage the internals. Just my 2 pennies.

hrmm....reading up on Permatex products i found this.
this is on the MSDS sheet for all of the silicone sealants.
Comments: When heated to temperatures above 300 degrees F. in the presence of air, this product can form
formaldehyde vapors. Formaldehyde is a potential cancer hazard and a known skin and respiratory
sensitizer. Safe handling conditions may be maintained by keeping vapor concentrations below the OSHA
permissible limit for formaldehyde

Seems as if just being born causes cancer now. Who knows what we're exposed to on a daily basis. Especially us nitro lovers.

Sealant: Lucky 7
Where: Around the base of the carb after set up, under both ends of the slide bellows, around the banjo fitting, both sides of the pinch bolt and yes under the back plate.
A very thin bead around the back plate, not on the engine case. This way the sealant won't accidentally get pushed into the crankcase by the o ring.
Why; I don't trust orings and a little sealant goes a long way in diagnosing what you know is not the problem when it comes to an air leak.

Lucky7 is awesome, the way it flows to the cracks makes it so easy to seal any part, I go as far as sealing around the HSN since it wicks in and does not build up thick to interfere with the fuel tube. The only thing I have found, is to make sure you got some ventalation or put your seatbelt on, it's got some fumes. Great product!

proof (safe) it will not dissolve like other RTV's. R/C Nitro Magazine recommended it's use to seal nitro engines years ago. (ask Steve P)
Lucky 7 is probably a great product, but I'm a "old schooler" I don't mind
disassembling an engine and applying the sealer by hand.
