I never will forget when I started racing buggy. I was running the D8. The local fast guy here is David Osborne. I guess he felt sorry for me after watching me drive that D8 with the OS V-Spec.
He callled me up and came to my house with a little box in his hand. He told me to put that on my buggy and I would do much better. When I opened the box, it was a little STS 5-port engine. I put her on and WALLA ! I was 10 times better than previous. Now, I understand that some can drive a power house but it's hard for me to pay attention to throttle control. When you get in traffic and/or someone is catching you, it's easy to start over-driving. Right now on my Losi, I'm running the red-head Dynamite with the RE 10 pipe.
I'm running much much better and have all the power I need. It's a great engine for the money. Some may laugh but I've never seen money gain you postions in RC Racing. It don't happen and never will.

I have my modder tame my mill. I am new to buggy coming from truggy and I couldn't stop it from wheel spinning all over. Since then I have a more linier powrband with enough grunt to clear jumps. One day when I get more used to buggy I will go the other way with mods and increase power. But right now it's to much for me.
When I ran truggy I loved full mod motors in buggy I like stock detuned mills. This is what I am faster with.

I ran a losi for a long time and put every avail option on it. What is actually necessary is much less.
- rear alum gearbox inserts
- alum servo saver top
- alum top plate (some will say no, but it helps the cars durability IMO)
- I also like the KHZ alum toe plates because I have had the Losi adj inserts break and cause a DNF.
- The rear KHZ hubs are nice but not necessary.
_ The lightened outdrives and spur gear are also nice as they do free up the rotating mass and it can be felt on the track, but again not completely necessary.
I'm sure I have missed something but there is a good start.

Honestly I couldn't tell you if they made any difference but I can tell you that I have not had one failure on any of these parts.
The motor is too fast for me with a alum clutch but tamed down enough with a Steel Flywheel.
I really like the wing mount. Being adjustable helps.
Who knows if any of the upgrades help but I like them. They look good and so far with over 4 gallons on all they have held up and look just as good as the day I bought them.

i got 2.5 hours on my new T2.0 and have another mod...i put my quickchange mount in... still runnin stock parts other than the steering brace...back end is loosing up a bit but still less than what would be normal for the adjustable ones...front is still tight as new...rear diff still has a bit of a high spot but no issues or premature wear thusfar... only issue is the gouged centre diff casing from putting the brake lever for the rear in backwards...oops!!
i think this car is the best bang for your buck...the difference you save in buying a lesser priced truck IMHO is more than made up for with broken parts and the hopups the other guys require to be as tough as a losi...i have done nothin but beat on this truck...anyone who can keep it rubberside down and not case every jump can have good success with a stocker...i have all the hopups, i just dont wanna mess up a good truck and waste quality spare parts...when it breaks ill toss on the upgrade...thats how im gonna tune this losi...

I totally disagree with the anti-modded engine remarks! Not only do I have a modded engine, but I have a modded 25 and I have no trouble what so ever with controlling it! In fact, it gives me a slight edge and I am always placing in the top 4... I guess it all depends on driving style and driver reflex. Also, a big factor with modded engines is the capability of the builder! A modded engine is about more than just extracting more power, its also about making that engine run smoother and more efficiently. Which equals better fuel milage and a more versatile powerband.
