They stopped cause they were too expensive. 50-60K in the mid 90's was alot for an import sports car.

Those look like stock twin-turbos (or close to stock), so the wing is ok.

PS: I got hit by a Semi-Truck on the freeway while driving a Supra Turbo and lived to tell the story.

Yeah those Supras make a damn nice GT car. The problem is that people didn't want a technology driven big heavy GT cars that hauled ass. Shortly after the Supra all of the big Japanese sports cars stopped being imported to the US (300Z, RX7, NSX, etc.) The good news it that there seems to be a resurgence now.

The other good news if you like high HP cars, is that we are living in the middle of a HUGE HP war with modern cars. When you can find a 400+ HP car for $30K you know you are doing well! The 2011 Mustang GT looks to be the next big power value with 411hp coming to compete with the SRT8 and Camaro SS.

And down the road the Camaro Z/28 is coming with over 500hp to compete with the GT500 which already has 540hp.

Not to mention sweet cars like the Mercedes C63, BMW M5, Audi RS4, etc.

With the new government laws looming this era probably won't last. So buy one now. It is just like 1970 all over again with the death of the muscle car. Just now we have VASTLY superior cars to those old ones.

Yeah, I am a car guy.

And to keep this on topic, I like running a wing on my RC car.

I am not sure they even made money on the Supra Turbo. It was supposed to be a halo car that lured people into the dealer who end up buying a Camry that they can afford.

I was wondering when someone was going to mention the German cars.

Also thanks for adding in the last little note about your wing on your RC cars. You were coming dangerously close to hijacking my thread. LOL

Hit the nail on the head.....I love the import cars from 93-98. They were the glory days of the technology boom. I am a Turbo car fan.....another one in my collection is the RX7 Twin Turbo.....best handling of the bunch.

On topic.....wish someone here in the USA was a stocking dealer for the cobra wing....i want one, but don't feel like ordering from the other side of the world.

I used to have an RX-7 convertible, 1988 model, (early second generation) with a TII drivetrain conversion. I was a super moderator on the RX-7 Forum. We used to go to the races with Ari Yallon (Rotary Performance a.k.a. rx7.com) and I have a nice trophy from the All Motor class at the Import Nationals in Ennis from that car (prior to drivetrain conversion.) Got 2nd in All Motor class... not too bad!

I like all 3 generations of the RX-7.
