Default Losi Diff Oil Question

I am new to adding oil to the differentials, but I want to learn.

My Ten-T came with greased differentials which I think are virtually identical to the 8ight RTR diffs.

I ordered up the oils suggested by Gray Keyes of Losi (7/7/2), but I am not 100% sure on the procedure.

I understand removing and opening the diffs up, but how should I clean the grease off? Just clean them with some Simple Green degreaser?

Then how much oil do I put in the diff? Are they supposed to be full, or just with some in the bottom? I haven't gone through the manual to see how the diff cases are assembled, but I assume the split in half. So do I fill one half with oil and then seal them up? Or is there some trick to it?

I assume I bought enough lube too, I bought two Losi 7K and one 2K. I hope it doesn't take more than one tube per diff!

Also do I need to replace any gaskets? I assume not, but I figure it is worth asking.

I know this is all pretty simple stuff to you experts, but I want to make sure I do it right my first time.

Thanks in advance!

I normally clean my diffs with v & m nepentha, you can get a whole gallon of it pretty cheap at a hardware store. I picked mine up at a sherwin williams store. First wipe the grease off as much as you can then soak the gears and diff in a small container for a few mins then wipe everything off and refill the diff.

I am sure you will have plenty as one bottle/tube is probably enough for all of them and usually the diff has a cup that holds the inner gears and then the ring gear is the cap fill up the cup near the top and you have the other gear on th ringear side to go in if a lil squeezes out its ok nothin to difficult but i clean mine with nitro blast any good clleaner to remove oil would be fine then check your gear mesh and shim as needed before assembly

It is funny that video is only a week old. They must have known I needed to do it soon.

It is also odd that I didn't find it when searching for "losi diff oil" on YouTube. I did find some kid who did it, but it didn't cover the details like the video you linked.

Thanks again!
