Default Problem fitting manifold over exhaust gasket

I've just installed my new engine (Go .28 3 port) and exhaust connection is metal, so has a rubber gasket on it. I've bought, tried, and failed with 2 manifolds so far (18mm) as they seem to be too big to slot over the metal, as was expected, but also too tigh to slot over with the gasket attached. I just keep ripping them.

I've tried lubing with a little bit of oil, every conceivable angle, even dremelling a little off the edges to try to ease it on. But no joy

I'm currently using electricians tape wrapped around to create something like a seal, but this is obviously far from ideal.

Any ideas?

Thanks muchly

James

Use a different seal. They make Larger and smaller ones. the orange Ofna style are usually larger than the blue or black that fit most other apps.

I'll take a look in the hobby shop tomorrow, though it was the black one that came with the engine that I was using.

Lawson, please ask your GO related questions
in the GO Engines thread. I just bumped it to
page one of these Off-Road Nitro threads for
ya. As far as the header problem, you may
want to post some pics of whats going on.
What header/pipe are you trying to fit to
the engine?
