steering servo needed for a 1/8th buggy

I'm not trying to thread jack here but I am going to be replacing my servos on my 8IGHT 2.0 and was curious as to why the 7950TG wasn't recommended? I have heard that a few people said that they had reliability problems but I can't seem to find any of these negative reviews (online at least).

Airtronics 94357 speed throtle, airtronics 94358 torque steering. ive had these for 5 years no problems. best servos ever. probably the most used servo by the pro's. ive had them in gt2, revo, crt.5, crt truggy. they are analog, but they have been proven over and over and over again. as far as new tech. look at pro driver setups and see what they are using and go from there. but i guarantee you will love these servos and u can get them from 80 to 100. i paid 130 5 years ago each for mine but i have not had any problems. ABSOLUTELY SET YOUR END POINTS or u will fry ANY servo.

oh and another thing, manufacturer specs for servos and engines dont mean a thing. they seem to put whatever they want in their specs (advertising) to promote their product. dont be a sucker use what has been PROVEN.

That's the set up I was using for YEARS....except before I quit racing last time, my 357 died. Just got a new buggy today, not sure what to get for my throttle. I'm on an unemployed budget, so I need something decent but cheap until I have some money. I have a cheaper Hitec I used my last few races, but now it surges real bad, not sure what the problem is....any suggestions on a cheaper throttle servo to use for now? Or a good used servo for cheap??

I have the JR9100t in my buggy and monster truck as steering servos and trouble free
associated has some decent servos for lower cost

i have been Airtronics and jr since i have started this hobby, i have a Air 358 gong on 2 years, well actually two of them. i recently tried the Ace 1313 and the 1015 and i have been very pleased with the both of them..staying centered and with minimum slack. As a matter of fact i just got another 1015..(as it is a little more powerful and faster then they have listed). just putting that out there..it is pretty good

Hitec 7955's.
I set my epa real low 20%. With my car off the ground and holding the steering wheel to the left or right, increase untill the servo starts to "talk" but not "sing". Then back it off some.
With the 7955, just grab the arm and push a little. you can hear them "sing" as you push harder. you don't want to ever hear that with the wheels off the ground.
No singing on steering or throttle. A little singing on brake, as the servo has to pull hard to op the brakes. But still, not too much.
