Default advice on a new 1/10th off road

hey everyone,

sometime next month i am going to purchase a new nitro off road car or buggy. I was thinking about the traxxas jato. what do you guys think of this car, and the trx 3.3 engine?

i am definitely open to any other suggestions, i don't think money is going to be much of an object so let it fly!! but be reasonable, i am no pro driver

i wont be racing it competitively, but i would race a few friends.

its more for bashing, but speed is obviously a factor in bashing

I ran a 3.3 in my revo for the one year i raced it and it performed great. Have nothing but good things to say.

If your planing on just racing it and its what you want go for it. Are you set on 1/10th scale ? The smaller scale will get stuck more often while bashing no matter how fast it is, if it stuck on a rock its not going any where.

Is 1/8th scale out of your budget ?

the 10t looks amazing, but it is more money than the jato.

what is better about the 10t than the jato?

jato is for the most part strictly on road....they can go offroad but the performance is well...pitiful.....its a Fast mofo...but speed is somethign that gets real boring REAL fast......the 10T is More then capable to bash at the local skate park or race with the best of the best in the 1/8 Pro class.

yes it'll be more money up front...but your getting 10X the truck....Traxxas isn't my favorite company if you couldn't tell.

Over all the 10T is a better buy for a multitude of reasons.

lets also not forget that the 10t comes with $250 radio. Later on if you upgrade to more vehicles or even just buy another roller or get into 1/8 scale you already have a very good and capable radio to go with it. When you look at it you are paying 250 bucks for the car and when i tell you it takes a beating its a understatement. Like i said i raced my friends truck and it was great. It cleared every jump like a truggy and i was able to be in the top 3. Bashing gets old fast and thats about all you will be doing with a jato. you get what you pay for especially in r.c.

im not to worried about the money up front, my mom said she would get any car i wanted

but my other concerns are about the engine, i know that the TRX 3.3 is a good engine. i know the 10T comes with a 3.4 though i don't know the name of it. How do these engines compare.

my last concern is about replacement parts, i know my local hobby store carries all the parts for the jato, and most traxxas cars. do most hobby stores carry losi parts?

almost every hobby shop i know of has losi parts and vehicles. Would be dumb not too, being that they are one of the rc monsters...and i will not bash traxxas as they are great starter vehicles and slash are fun...but you cannot compare it at all to losi...the 10t is a very well built car that can bash all day or race with the best of em...the jato...not so much...

alright i will say it sounds like the quality of losi is superior to traxxas.

now what about the engines?

sorry for the double post.

what if i got a set of off road tires with the jato? or is the jato just less durable overall?

i am also thinking about the revo, what do you guys think about this truck?

the losi is still the top candidate

jato is less durable overall and is sucky my buddy had one and didn't like it at all also you have to watch the 3.3 i know a lot of people who burnt the rod in half also losi doesn't put junk in their vehicles at all I would take a losi 10t over any traxxas any day of the week hands down
