I have built quite a few different manufacturers kits and I think the only time they become difficult is if the instruction manual is a bit dodgy - if there are unusual set ups or configurations then as long as the instructions are clear then there shouldn't be an issue - in fact, sometimes those things are easier for someone newer to building as they will follow a good manual step by step whereas I may be guilty of looking at something and thinking I can just work it out without referring to the manual - those are often the times when ''an instruction manual is just the manufacturer's opinion on how to do it'' attitude ends up making me look like a tool!

So from what I have been hearing we are looking at a fall release date. September/October..ish. My LHS said they won't carry it due to limited part support.

I see that AMain carries the DE410 so would it be safe to say they will also carry the 408 when it is released?

Any idea of what Big Box stores will carry the 408?

Limited parts support would fall directly on HRP ( the US distributor ) it seems that they have a deal with A main for them to get most of the parts and product while the Local Hobby shops get to fight over the scraps. It was for this reason that we declined to carry any of the Durango products at our shop. They asked to us to "buy in" but told us we were forbidden to sell it online. a week later it was available online at A main. When I called to complain they told me they had a "special agreement" with A main that does not concern any of their other dealers. I will refuse to run or support Durango unless they step in and break up the monopoly on their product here in the USA. It seems to me that HRP is trying to help A main put all the local shops out of business

Funny you should mention that... I was speaking to someone who had contacted HRP to get a distribution deal going. According to him, he was told (among other things) that he HAD to have at least one car in stock at all times. I don't know about anyone else, but that's an expensive demo. Seems that HRP wants to be able to micro-manage other peoples' businesses.

The car looks nice, but frankly, if they start pulling this kind of BS, they can take their buggy and shove it where the sun doesn't shine, because I won't be supporting them.

I love shopping online, but I also try to buy whatever I can from my local hobby shop. He doesn't have everything, but it's tough to keep up with the new products when big online stores are the only one that can get certain cars, or a minimum of 3000 dollars of stock has to be bought. Tough market.... It's going to be a great car, but a great company takes people skills, and those can be in short supply or out of stock, haha...
