5mm is thinner then 3mm???

Also you can only make the shock towers so thin before they bend to easily. The way Gerd has designed the Cobra with thick carbon towers, I imagine he uses that same principal on everything else. He does over engineer the cars. I heard the Serpent was originally 5mm thick chassis as well, but Billy Easton had that changed for a 3mm chassis due to weight. Not sure how true that is, but it would make sense.

Just because it's 5mm at the edge, doesn't mean it's 5mm consistently throughout. If you look at photos of the 408's chassis, you'll see that it's fairly heavily machined; probably down to 2mm in certain areas. Regardless, the car's not out and nobody here (that I know of) has had a chance to drive one, so all the armchair speculation about weight and flex are pointless.

As someone else said, aluminum doesn't always mean heavy. One of the lightest 1/8th onroad cars on the market right now is the Shepherd and it has aluminum all over the thing.

I don't see the reason for speculations of any aspect of this buggy when nobody know how looks, perform, durability, weight, etc...

I was told by the Team that the car will more than likely not be ready till October sometime.
Although things may and can change at anytime I would think we still have a bit of a wait for the DNX408

Now I am depressed... I guess I will just have to keep my old car until it comes out.

Hello Laquan ! How is it going, great seeing you and the rest of the guys last week at the first round of the NESS

I feel that the car will be worth the wait, since it seemed to be so close to being release. The team must have found something that they did not like or could be improved to stop the release. Which I for one would rather they issue a perfect car than one that needs some tweaking just to rush it out (like some other companies) I will continue running my car until I have the 408 as well.
It WILL be worth the wait

Any chance that you could provide some input as to how the car behaved? I'm sure a whole lot of us are dying to know.

I ask him the same thing, still waiting for a answer. I dont thing that any one will drive a prototype beside the person that is testing. We have a few Keyboard cowboys around.
