With all that fancy alum I wonder if they will be able to keep the price competitive around the $600 range. Still any news on when we can get one here in the states?

that was my thread. And i have thought about that every time i visit this thread

makes me wonder what improvements can be made to THIS car.

I also get a little angry with the lack of imagination for all the top cars now. They all are virtually the same it seems and all a pain to work on.

hell, i would pay dearly to have boots over my rear wheel bearings. I LOATH pulling out the rear axles and changing bearings and cleaning cvd's

Dreux- The car is designed by a man named Gerd Strenge. Gerd is kind of regarded as an RC engineering genius and serious innovator. He has been building cars for probably 8-10 years now, but until just a few months ago his cars were never for sale to the general public. His designs have always pushed the boundaries. They were only available to top end drivers and the only time anyone would ever see one would be at the worlds biggest races. The Durango 4wd electric 1/10th buggy was a thing of legend for years.

This is so not true.
I guess you'd take a look at Buggy-Sport.info's gallery to see some of the older pics of Gerd's Durango project - at that time driven by Joern Neumann. In this stage the car was still featuring Thunder Tiger suspension but you can clearly see the whole concept.
Serpent got involved in that project years later, when both, Serpent and Gerd teamed up to make his project ready for mass production. And we all know it did not work out.
When Joern left Team Durango at the end of the 2008 season, current 1/10 WC Martin Achter became his successor, while Gerd Strenge and Michael Vollmer got this baby ready for us.
Serpent continued on their own, based on an older Gerd Strenge design and that's why their car looks no way nearly as good as the Durango.
