2010 Xray 808 or Mugen MBX6
I'm thinking about buying a new buggy, one that is made better than my Losi 8 2.0 and something that is more surefooted. I was thinking about the Mugen mbx6 or the Xray 808. I know that the quality of these both are much better than my Losi but how much better is the quality of the Xray compared to the Mugen or vise versa. I,ve been told that the Mugen would fit my on the edge driving style better but, I"m not positive about that since I've never driven either one. I've also heard that these are both near bullet proof, is that true? Any info would be great. Thanks

I just finished building the xray 808 2010 kit, and I will say the quality looks top notch, unfortunately i havent had a chance to break in the motor yet so i cant comment on its handling although i suspect it to be on par with the quality of the kit. I just switched from the losi eight 2.0, which really did nothing but drain my bank accont, hell i dont even abuse em that hard, oh well. Nonetheless, based upon the Mugen buggies i have seen, the Xray is what i would recommend.

The 808 is bullet proof, run one since January. Other than replacing the drive pins at regular intervals (saves wearing the outdrives and axles) I've had no failures. Really impressed with the fit and finish of the car.

Both are great cars, and both are very very durable. You may want to try and drive both if possible. One of the pros at my track switched from Mugen to Xray a few months back, tried numerous setups and actually lost a step because it just doesnt suit his driving style as well. You may be more adapted to the Xray but it is impossible to say until you drive them both.

Bulletproof? My mugen has taken all i can give it. Cartwheels, flip after flip, landing on one tire from 20 feet, etc. THe only time i broke something is when i ran my buggy into a tree at WOT
Nothing is gonna save that.
Had it over a year with the original drivetrain, although the center driveshaft pins are getting pretty flat. I have a whole new drivetrain to put in, but my original just wont quite.
Another thing, there is so many setup options you have to expieriment with. It took a while to find the right setup, but now it corners on rails. I wouldn't drive ANYTTHING else. But if i did it would be a xray. Just can't afford to fix and fix. Maintenace is everything. Keep it clean, change your bearings and fluids and it will LAST

if u drive a losi eight would it be, easy to adapt to the way a xray buggy drives.

Either is a pretty safe bet. I'm going vote Xray 810. Seems easier to figure out a setup for the 810.

i have a eight 1.0 and havnt had ,any bad wear problems accept the wheel axles and some play in the pinion gear in the gear box.

I love the xray, buttt
If you hang it out on big jumps and blast it the mugen will actually clear the tough jumps. I know, I know what you guys are thinking, but The mugen has more ground clearance and shock travel, and it freakin flies and doesn't get as upset as the 808, but i wouldn't buy one.....

I have a 808( 08 spec ) and temporarily had a mbx6. the 808 is of course more losi like. The quality of the xray is on a whole nother level, but the mugen quality is still great. anytime I have a part on a different car that seems to break often I try and replace it with an xray part and If I can its never a problem again. to me the 808 is perfectionist and vague. the mugen is hard to get the rear planted. nether fits my driving style unfortunately but I like the xray between the 2.

Pillow Ball Suspension SUCKS xray all the way. i drove a losi 1.0 and 2.0 and switched to the mugen against what everyone had told me. i tried setup after setup and never could get it to work for me. got me an xray 809 and have been in heaven
