Default When engines go...

I usually just get a new engine. It sucks to do, but it's not worth the parts to fix up an engine like that. I recommend a Novarossi .21BF for 150 dollars. It will last for a long time. the carbs are the best too. Nothing wobbles or leaks. good luck man....

agree you cant beat a novarossi carb.
btw the 14mm novarossi crank will work in there also.
the n21bf has the 14mm crank correct?

Someone from my local track has a grenade he'll give me, so i may try that crank and see if it's any better. Here's the vid, not the best of quality, but you get the point.

if it wasn't running hot then it was maybe too rich on the lsn, when orings go bad tuning is almost impossible. i did crack a couple cases before but temps went through the roof. i tried a nova carb before but noticed no defference in the motor other than now i hadf to learn how to tune a nova carb, i was so used to the go carbs already. flameouts are caused by way more than the motors rod/crank, fuel line, tank, clutch, mesh, etc.... what else have you checked?

I was planning on sending the p/s to Ray tomorrow. I just took a caliper to the crank pin and the lowest i got was 4.79mm and i got 4.97 right next to the big part of the crank. So i'm guessing 4.79 means it's shot.

I haven't really checked anything other than the engine.

I think i may just get a Losi 350 engine. you can find them for less than $100 and they seem to be great mills from the thread on this site.

I'm really not looking to spend alot right now Marcus. Especially since Dennis will sell me his Grenade cheap.

if you are going to continue to run the grenade look for a new go tech cooling head..
as thats were most the heat issues arise the head is so thick it cant accuretly cool the engine thats why they run 260-270 all the time.

Well guys, a local racer gave me a great deal on his 1 gallon old Grenade. So hopefully i'll start fresh with that engine and never look back. Thanks for all your interest/help.

Yes, I would say (0.007") 0.018mm is excessive. I feel crank pin wear exceeding 0.003" Excessive/NO GOOD. I measure with blade mics .....seems to be best measuring tool measuring crank pins.

Glade you found replacement engine Corey

HHHMMM will a p5x crank fit in a GO based engine? I think it is the 14mm crank but not certain.
