Default How old is too old?

Hey guys, if you had some O'Donnell 20% racing fuel, and it has been kept in a closet inside the house. How old is to old??? It still burns if you pour some on the ground and light it??

Well i guess the real question is how old exactly is it?

I would be more concerned about the oil being broken down from sitting for so long......

Hmm that doesnt sound very good to me. I would try shaking the gallon to re mix. if the funky color doesnt go away i dont think id chance it. If your running an expensive mill, since there is a question dont chance it. I have run od 30% thats been 3 months old with no problems thats in a dark cool closet.

I always wonder how long from manufacture, to transport, to sitting at hobby shop before it ever gets used in the first place...

I would use it to start a BBQ or bonfire or something, I wouldn't run it in my car if it has changed color that much, go buy a new gallon and your engine will thank you.

I wouldn't run fuel that is more than a year old. Less than that is fine by me. Some fuel has been sitting for months before you even get the chance to buy it. That's the rule for club racing at least. For big races I'll usually buy a fresh gallon, or use one that is less than 2 months old, but of course in the summer usually a gallon won't last more than a month before it's all burnt up, so it's pretty rare to have really old fuel sitting around.

I don't have that issue with coldfusion fuel. I order straight from the mfg and he mixes it to my specs then it's on a fedex truck to my house. It doesn't get any fresher than that. But I would say 6 months for fuel to sit on the shelf after that I would not run it.
