no good for competative racing, good for bashing and playing around. Top speed is probably around 30 to 35mph with a good tune if I remember correctly. Lots of aftermarket parts for those trucks and they are pretty tough. I had one about 10 years ago when they first came out.

you should sell it.......LOL j/k its a great bashing truck but not for racing, just because traxxas says the 2.5 is a race engine does not make it a "race" engine lol...beat it and have fun thats what its made for.

Hey Joe, the T-Maxx is a fun truck, but everyone is right. You can make it competetive for the MT class, but it would cost you a lot of money, and the MT class is non existant in most places.

I would just see what the most popular class is at your local track, and buy whatever it is. Probably 1/8 buggy or truggy, or Slash.

Have a look at an E-maxx. They share a lot of parts. I think you'll have to change the tranny, but I'm not sure. Just do some research on the E-maxx.

looks like you bought this truck with out doing ANY research prior...just leave it the way it is, learn the hobby then lets worry about changing stuff around.

here is my 2 pennies... if you are just starting out in R/C this is a great truck it's tough and fun and great to learn with, i think all r/c racers have owned one at one time or another. if you are new to r/c keep the truck to learn with and race in the novice class and when your ready to move up either sell it to get a competitive racer or keep it for the back yard.!!!
