runnaway! oh no!
so today i was driving my traxxas stampede at the park, i had tuned it up and it was running great! i was very happy!, so happy in fact i decided to try my luck on a huge mud puddle, well it turns out my car is not waterproof, my battery case got soaked and shorted, then it pinned itself ant took off! now it seems like the car had a mind of its own, it took off across the park and targeted a 86 year old grandmother with her 2 grandsons, thankfully she stoped my car with her shins, my truck must have been doing 50kph! i feel bad for her, so to keep this from happening again what can i do? i was thinking of putting a spring on the servo so when it looses power it returns to idle, any other ideas? i cant get a failsafe because it would not work if it lost all power, also i want something cheap, and i want to go mudding! how can i waterproof my car? thanks guys

A lot of people use hair ties instead of throttle return springs. But either would work for closing your throttle if you lose power. You still need a fail safe for when your servo is still getting power and your receiver loses signal.

Make sure your receiver doesn't already have one built in. Every 2.4 radio I've had has... I've only had 2 so far though.

If it will keep you from running your RC truck into the shins of an 86 year old woman, does it matter?

You need to put a spring or rubberbands on the carb. If the throttle linkage were to pop off, the spring on the servo wouldn't help you much.

I think a spring would be better because when i was heating up my engine with a heat gun the rubber band snapped.
