Incorrect, standard electrical motor's we use in our boxes are rated for 18V, so therefor a 16.8v 4S will do nothing to the motor's, 18V motor's on the other hand might try and suck a little too much juice from your 3S and hurt the cell's....who told you 3S was proper ?

I run 3300 MAH 4S 25c lipos in both my boxes. Both from ebay, had one for over a year now and no problems so far.

I just went by the voltage rating, Thought 16V will be too high. I will keep my 2 3S batteries for the Car and use the 4S on it.

Also, is it a must to change the connectors to Deans from the tamiya ones? I see a lot of starter box batteries wired with Tamiya connectors.

Also suggest best method to secure the battery in the box. Will zip ties work? charging is an issue with ties.

IMO its critical to junk the Tamiya connector's, they are No where near rated for the Amps a starter box can and Will pull....deans from the pack and Direct solder everything else.

As far as securing the pack, Industrial velcro does the trick. No need for pack crushing zip ties.

And what about charging? Do you take it out of the box and put it in the LiPo protecting bag or leave it in the box?

I take it out and charge it in a liposack which is sitting inside an old ammo can, but I still use Tamiya connectors. Why? Because I've never seen one burn up ever and honestly some people would burn anything up. As for securing the battery to the box I got some velcro from home depot. I stick the battery right to the bottom of the box.

They wouldn't make it if it would just melt down, they'd have 5 bazillion returns.

There is no overkill though, so if you want to you can solder some deans ultra connectors on there and if you feel better that's fine. Some lipos comes that way. Or you can use Hudy's lipo starter box connection. It just pushes onto the bare wire if you purchase a lipo that is not wired with a connector. I've also heard that the Traxxas connector is quite good, perhaps as good as deans.

Can someone tell me what and where can i get a good but cheap in price lipo battery for my Ofna truggy starter box? I have the Blue box and i mess up 2 lipo batteries. They both got fat and one of them poped. Lucky i was outside and i have a lipo bag. The one lipo battery that got fat... It was fully charged but when i used it in my starter box, got hot and fat. I think my box was to strong for it.

I can assume you are balancing the packs as well ?

How many cycle's did you get before they got hot and puffed ?

Were you trying to start a tight stubborn motor ?

are you sure that the starter box has been checked out as working normal ?

[QUOTE=Integra;8010623]I can assume you are balancing the packs as well ? Yes

How many cycle's did you get before they got hot and puffed ? It was a brand new battery adn only did it once.

Were you trying to start a tight stubborn motor ? No... I can turn on the engine with a 12v battery. I just wanna use lipo since is lighter to carry the box.

are you sure that the starter box has been checked out as working normal ? The box is new and work fine.
