so a well ballanced wheel will just come to a random stop, IE. not the sane spot if you do it over and over?

yes sir.

actually you should be able to stop it at 12 3 6 and 9 and it should NOT move from there......you can even go 1/2's in between 12 3 6 and 9 to ensure its balanced properly.

1/2" offset and putty is imo wrong.

also the fact all he's done is create a heavy side opposite of the initial heavy side which is also wrong if you ask me.

Tire balancing takes a lot of patience but forced if I buy anything but AKA not perfect but decent. The dubro unit is awesome very sensitive. Having your wheels / tires stop in random spots is a science would rather pay someone too take away this frustration. All the youtube instructional video are not for the extreme RC enthusiast its basic but a good point would be foam seating and glue job will affect balance .NEW foams from Proline are awesome.

You can use a wheel hex and nut instead of the piece Dubro suggests.

X2 a simple 17mm wheel hex and nut and some fuel tubing and rig it up......i keep 1 side of the tubing real short for easy removal and keep the long side and the height gauge pending if im doing buggy or truggy wheels.

X 3

You guys are spot on.. I too use the fuel tubing technuiqe and fit a wheel nut in the wheel and put the cone shaped bits pointy side to none pointy side if that makes sense?

You simply do not need the extra peice if you use your noggin

Plus it makes the dubro balancer a real bargian

Default Better traction and saves bearings...

Ballencing your wheels makes for better traction. You will see realy bad unballenced wheels bounce up and down up the straights and put heaps more stress on the bearings. Ballence them and you will notice the difference for sure. A good ballenced wheel when done right will spin longer, then stop in random spots everytime. 90% of all wheels I have got new have had to be ballenced. I use modelling clay or plastasine, they both work fine and are cheap and easy to get. Once you do it once you will be hooked.

Anyone run their new tires for a few laps to "run in" the inserts before balancing?I don't know if it helps but it makes me feel better(in my head at least, lol) about the balance of my tires if the inserts have been "run in".

another BIG part of what both vids posted lacked....doing this is a MUST as the foams will move a bit when they are brand new.

I run them for a quali and call em good....or if there buggy tires i take them for a rip on my E in the front yard.

A well balanced wheel/tire will have a hard time finding a place to rest.

As a matter of fact my wife just bought me a digital video camera and we will start to make videos. One of them on the list is how to properly balance tires.
What do you guys think causes 'a new heavy spot' when in the process of balancing?

having the weight Off the mark.....if the tire's out A Lot you have to Spread the weight out to get the tire to balance out.
