Default Losi 8ight Starter Box Troubles

This is my first time posting on the site, so if I do anything incorrect please let me know.

I have a 8ight 1.0 with a dynamite .21 and a losi starter box. The starter box has extreme difficulty turning the engine over. It has so much trouble that I burnt up the motors. The box is powered by a 12 volt gell cell battery. Pretty much standard equipment. It seems as if the box does not have enough torque. I tried a car battery and a 14.8 volt lipo but to no avail. I made sure the box was aligned with the slot on the chassis. I even milled the slot slightly larger to clear up any interference issues. This still did not help. I know the motor is not to tight,it has well over a gallon of fuel through it.

I'm lost and have no other ideas, please help

Thanks,
Mike

i would put in traxxas 12t titian motors two of them of corse i heard they are better than the losi stock motors and have more torque, i have the same box and the motors will burn up reguardless what u do espially if your engine wount start right away youfine with the 12vgell cell thats what i use thats prently u could use a heat gun to get it to start easier cause its getting cooler outside

+1 on the heat gun. You need to heat up the motor first. It will help a bunch.

Ive seen alot of LOSI boxes have this problem. Mine had gotten so bad it would hardly turn a VSpec that had 3+ gallons on it. The LOSI motors even new didnt seem to have very much torque.. I ended up switching to an OFNA box with a single 775 in it and that does the trick.

I forgot to mention I used a heat gun. I just bought the box and will never be able to get the money for it. I will almost have to give the thing away. It seems that the only other option is to just find a different brand of box.

Thanks

+1 on the Ofna Truggy box. I had the old stock losi box take a dump on me very early this year right after I upgraded it with a 4s losi lipo and deans wet noodle wiring. The motors shorted out and sucked the lipo down to 8 volts. It is the only time I have ever gone racing and seriously considered packing my stuff up and going home I wan not a happy camper. I had worked the box very hard all day trying to keep a dying engine running. I even ended up switching engines and it was still dying so I swapped the tank and fuel line and that was the ticket. Then the losi box died right before the main. And I thought it took the new lipo with it. Luckily the lipo was ok I am still using it today. But get rid of that losi box its nothing but a headache.

il try the titan motors and the gell cell than next year i might get a lipo for it
thats a shame they put those cheap motors in that box it will last for a little bit but evently they do burn out, i did try the new losi box with the 750 motor i believe and i had a gell cell batteryin it had a lot of power

The new boxes dont accept a 12v in them only stick packs. I am gonna rebuild the old box and use it as a back up.
