Don't know anything about them, but definitely is different. Looks like it would have a wicked low center of gravity.

Caster and Mugen are completely different companies. The Caster and Ishima cars copy the MBX5R in about 85% of their design features wich makes them really good handling cars. They are decent cars but not associated with Mugen in any way.

Caster MANUFACTURES the parts for the ishima.

The Ishima is designed by Claude Lachat, the father of modern offroad cars (ie double a-arms all around, shaft-driven 3-diff 4WD cars and such). He was the engineer at Yankee in the 80/90's before they bellied up (remember Yankee was the first world champ in 1986...), then built his own business as LARO in the 90's (cars: Rush, Diablo, D2, and all the 4th and 5th scale cars... multi-eurochamp with the son Philippe driving and others) then Laro bellied up, and he became the designer for the GS cars (storm, avenger...) then GS stopped 8th scale... then he's now doing ISHIMA and still involved in Piktor I think.

Laid-down shocks are typical of Lachat's designs.

The car is supposed to work well, but the french forums (usually keen on Lachat's stuff as he's like the godfather of 8th scale in France) report some reliability and quality issues ... too much cost-cutting. Tuning also seems to be an issue (as with all non-direct suspension systems with geometries on the edge). Car is sold at rock-bottom price, think D8 territory (another car with quality issues )

A few links, in french, but you get the idea:
