On second thought, after seeing some of these "tips" I may just decide to stay home and away from all of you freakazoids

It's the Mapston Memorial race up here in the northwest at the end of October. It's going to be fairly large with a 100 racer cap per class (already 40+ racers signed up in each class I'm in) and will be the first time I'm on a track other than my usual haunt @Area52. Since it's a brand-new track built specifically for the event I don't know what to expect in terms of adjusting my setup. I'm hoping to get there early enough walk the track and get some solid practice in and have time to dial my setup in.

Now, I'm off to practice my show tunes and prep a murder kit.

Setup, Yep its important, But at some point, you just gotta drive..If you got an ill car in the whoops, and do not have the time to adjust your set up..you gotta just drive the thing, Best part about racin at new tracks...

At some point you gotta drive the track with what ya got.

lol he said it above. Its the Mapston Memorial race in Spokane, WA. Awesome race that goes towards a good cause. Cold as ice but everyone still has fun.

Amoeba, you should definitely show up. Its gonna be awesome. You will not have a problem meeting people at this race. We are going to have heated pits in 1 building which will be along side the track building.

Everyone is very friendly and there will be plenty of people to help out with pitting, set-ups, etc. We have 4 local hobby shops in the area so if you forget something, they should have it. Just remember your FUEL and RADIO.

A case of motor oil for the car, or maybe 2, if it is a long ways away. i usually carry 3 qts. for every 60 miles as my Burick still has a lot of life left in it. Sams club has Rotella T for $14 and some change. I hav also fixed the dead battery thing by cutting a hole in the grill and putting a pair of jumper cables through the hole.the other end of the jumper cables stay hooked to the battery. If you are going more than 100 miles away carry some spare tires, i put mine on the roof of the car so I still have room in the back seat for my gas grill. You never no when you might get stranded.I also carry a banner that says WIDELOAD. many times i have been able to pick up some extra$$$$ hanging out at mobile home sales centers waiting to be an escort, I've made some friends for life doing this not to mention some big money.

if u have to ask urself 'should i take this' or 'do i need this'. take it. that should apply always.

if ur goin to make a frequent habit of this, could pay off to do as some do out there and pickup a 2nd example of ur car. purely for parts (that are assembled, perhaps make it modular if u need an entire section if u will) or as a spare car in the event of big problems.

I think I'm going to take a page out of JP's book and build a second car thats identical to the first. If one breaks down, run the other.

Or I'll build a nearly identical electric for practice and use it for spare parts.

I've seen some odd big race superstitions:
Naked Headless Barbie doll guled to the foot of a M8 transmitter
Burying broken parts in the track
Theres this one guy who spins around twice before choosing a spot on the drivers stand
Capes.....
Skipping on the track instead of "walking the track"
"This is my power outlet, there are many like it, but this one is mine."
Don't say anything bad about the RC8 if its near enough to hear you.

Your car will be faster and more reliable if you give it a pet name like "Fleetwood", "Fleabag", or "Evil Pelosi edition".

Random racer signatures on your cars body are good for 1 second a lap. Pro sigs lose you a second.
