Blades front, Axman rear. That gives more steering. But he used UF Blades all around for the 30 minute main event. He also used UF front and MF rears because Axman pins fold over more. He was very happy with both the truck tires and buggy tires. It was his first race with VP-Pros and only his 2nd race since the Worlds last year.

Josh qualified 3rd in the B-main for buggy but had a tire come unglued in the main. He finished 6th in Ebuggy and 10th in Pro Truggy (also had a tire unglue).

The new wheels need to be dremeled and the tire beads should be cleaned with a blue shop towel and motor spray. I have tried Windex and dremeling the tires but that does not work as good imo.

Also, Medium glue works best for buggy tires and Thin works best for truggy tires. I use the VP-Pro tire glue bands for truggy tires but electrical tape for buggy tires because I like a super tight grip to hold the tires while they dry. Reuseable zip ties work too but not as good as tape.

The new Blades and Gripz are now in stock!

I tried Blades and Gripz back to back last weekend vs Axman and Turbo Trax. The Gripz again had the most traction. The track was slick and not groved yet but I still had all the traction and steering in the world with Gripz. The Axman have traction but lacked steering and the TT were loose. Blades are in between Gripz and Turbo Trax. Both are excellent additions to our tread linep.

Gene, I am very confused about the foams. I remember you telling me something about the new tires that have the inside X pattern have different foams. I saw some foams were closed cell and some were molded yellow. Some have ribs and some do not. Please clear up what foams come with what tires now?, If the premounts have the same foam as the unmounted? Are all the foams going to be the same as new shipments arrive? What is still left of the old stock with the old foams? If I recall correctly there are now like 5 different foams and would love if you can clear up for everyone what is coming with what. Thank you

Originally all VP-Pro tires came with soft yellow molded foams. We have a few premounted sets left with those foams (VP801-VP803s & wide tires).

Then they changed to a hard yellow inserts. We have a few sets of premounted tires with those foams also (VP801-VP803s and wide tires).

All non glued tires (Except wides) now come with the closed cell inserts.

When the VP805 Axman came out, the switched to the MF-002 black closed cell foams with grooves. All VP804 & VP805's come with this foam now.

When the VP806 Condor came out, they came with MF-001 black closed cell inserts with no grooves (X pattern carcus). The VP806-VP809's all come with this foam insert with no grooves (MF-001).

Either foam (MF-001 & MF-002) can be used in any tire. The one with no grooves (MF-001) gives the tire a more rounded shape and a firmer feel - perfect for smooth or blue groove tracks. The grooved insert (MF-002) makes the tire more flatter and gives a softer feel - perfect for bumpy tracks or loose/dusty tracks.
