I will agree with Tokin, Losi is better!!! But I won't say anything bad about Mugen. You are going to be just fine with your purches.

Parts are only expensive if you have to buy them and I have not had to buy much all year. I've been running the first revision of that car with no changes every weekend for a year now. Car is solid (as ussual with Mugen).

I have two of the non updated buggies and they have been perfect all summer. I have not broken anything and its not showing much wear. The only thing about the old outdrives is be careful when you are washing the car. They will freeze up and make the car push like a train. Just make sure the rear is actually diffing when you get to the track

The Mugens can take a beating. Second only to Xray in durability. I don't see the Mugen guys bringing many parts to the track.

Every car thread on here is filled with bugs/problems/upgrades. Every desighn has its flaws. Some companies upgrade thier kits often to fix the flaws,.......and people complain about that to!

Its really hard to make a buggy kit without some new flaw popping up when production ramps up. Losi has completely redesighned the 8ight in the 2.0 model and they still screwed up the radio tray completely. And thats an easy fix, but they still have that servo problem.

An honest racer is more vocal about the flaws in the kits he likes/owns. So it can be pretty harsh in forums sometimes. Take it with a grain of salt, it is opinion after all. I like to bash my Rc8. But I did fairly well with it.

Ninja BO1A!!!!!!! it's a .21 but, it's the perfect engine for a truggy. And will get better mileage than the .28. In my area, I don't know one person that runs a .28 in there truggy...

So people like this - you dont listen to - no creditable info - just talking $h!t
I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to the OP.

And based on your posts I would call you a Losi fan, not a Losi fanboy.

What do I mean about Losi fanboys? Well you see, in addition to the normal Losi fans there are some (maybe 20% of all Losi owners) that are like some sort of raging fanatics about Losi stuff. They are really freakin nuts. They will never say anything good about anything else and would rather run a wore out, obsolete, 10 year old Losi than anything else and swear it's the best. These are the people you see running Losi/GRP tires on a track where Prolines are a second faster and swear up and down that their Losi/GRP motors will smoke a Vspec and try to tell you Novarossi makes the cheapest POS motors on the planet. Even Losi guys should not listen to anything these guys say.

And for the record, I'm not bad mouthing Losi here, they make great stuff. I just can't stand a small percentage of their owners.

I would recommend the newer outdrives. Those require the most work to change out. Get it done and be over with it. All other parts, replace as needed when worn out. As for tuning, the softer 9.75F/10.75R springs with 450 oil and 2.2F/2.7R rear sway bars will make the car much easier to drive. Limit the droop so the upper arms doesn't touch the ackerman and cut the ackerman pivotball threading flush with the nut. Also the AL front upper arm holder is a good idea to have.

A .28 is way overkill in this truck. Honestly my 6t weighs just a little less then my old mbx5r. Personally I love the OS speed I have in it. A really smooth motor I would try in this is the competition modded V-spec. Either that or you cant go wrong with a good ole RB C6, or I guess now they call it the Buggy 9.

Law of averages.

Rc is a weird hobby.

Some strange characters in RC (especially Tallahassee and Alabama: Capes, ritual broken part burials, TAG body spray, Croc sandles, frankenstein OS engines, Donkey dogs etc.)

Losi is by far the most poular in nitro.......so by the law of averages they're going to have some odd fanboys.

My favorite is the "buy whatever won the nationals/worlds fanboys".

haha like when Hara won. After that everyone went out and bought a d8. I admit their awesome vehicles for the price tho.
