Default Diff Cup Bearing Removal

I'm rebuilding my xb8 replacing all the bearings. However, i can't figure out how to remove the bearings on the diff cups. I didn't see any type of set screw in the cup, and the other side is a diff gear. Can these bearings be replaced?

the diff cups have to be removed too...

pull the little flat sun gear off of the inside of the big ring gear and pull that pin out

Cory, you will need to completely disassemble the diff, which means taking out the spider gears which will expose the large sun gear sitting on the bottom of the diff. cup. Under the Sun gear is a pin which passes through your outdrive securing it in place. Once you remove that pin the outdrive will drop out of the diff cup and voila you can now remove the bearing. Repeat this process on the other Sun gear. Obvisously there are no Spider gears on the Crown gear side of the diff so removal is a bit easier.

You will most likely need to clean out the diff cup as the Sun gear gets stuck on the on the outdrive. The fluid forms a vaccuum so get yourself a pair of need nose pliers and gently work it lose. Also, cleaning the diff of all residual fluid will aid in breaking this suction. Good luck and just ask if you have any additional questions!
