I was thinking about putting this in my 8ight as an upgrade from the stock mach 427 and I was wondering if it's a good engine for this application. I do mostly club racing with the occasional bigger event. The price certainly can't be beat. What do you guys think?

In short, it's s GREAT club racing engine. I'm running one right now and I honestly don't feel out-motored by anyone and I'm racing against some guys with some pretty high end engines. I practiced today and timed a tank at race pace. 8:50 with a Dynamite 053 pipe and Byron's 30% fuel.

iv got 2 gallons on mine and have ran in series and points races fine. i have engines worth 3 times as much and dont see a difference other than price and name. as long as its running good who cares what anybody else thinks or is running lol iv seen and heard of pros running rtr engines that iv bought for under $100

It is a great engine for the price. It is basically a close relative of the losi 350 motor that comes on the losi 2.0rtr.

Do you guys think it is better to buy the dynamite mach 2 .21 or rebuild/replace the stock mach 427?

in buggy this is a great replacement especially for the price. the mach 2 21 is a 5 port(6w/exhaust as listed from manufacturer) and the losi 350 is a 3 port. although both are sh based engines.

So you think that the dynamite is a better engine then the losi 350? Also what is a "sh" based engine? Sorry this is the first engine I'm purchasing separately, but do I need to buy a new clutch and pipe if I get the Dynamite? I just have the stock clutch and pipe.

Im not a LOSI guy but if im not mistaken. The 8ight RTR only has 2 carbon shoes on a 4 shoe flywheel. If you got some time on the stock motor its most likly time for new shoes. go to amain or LHS and buy some new shoes and springs.the 8ight forum can help you with clutch setup better tha i can but i would run 2 carbon and 2 alum. the new motor will be worthless with worn out shoes. But to answer you question. the flywheel,clutch and clutch bell will all work on any moter. it might just have to be shimmed more or less. The pipe will work also.

Thank you for your prompt response, I am running 4 shoes right now on the stopck engine all 4 maxlife shoes with new springs. I was just wondering because its less I'd have to buy. Thank you!

offroadrunner. you got the shoes right, good choice. both the 350 and mach 2 are good and equal in many ways if broke in properly and mantained. sh is the factory that manufactured both engines. if piped up right both have good power for racing with decent fuel economy. only problem i have seen with either of the 2 is the plastic collar on the 350 carb(that attaches to the servo) if you were looking to run indoors or on small track the 350 3 port would be perfect. but matched with the re11 the 350 is also good outdoors on large tracks. check out aburtons speedshop thread on here(rctech) he has been testing the losi rtr engines frequently with good results. either engine is a good choice.

I have a mach .21 in my slayer and it halls @#$. Pulls wheelies all day and stays at about 240 degrees. It also holds tunes like a champ.
