Assuming you're getting the RTR, it comes pretty solid. Not sure about the steering servo, but I'm told the setup is quite dialed. I'm typically an "anti RTR" person, but again... losi did their homework on this. One exception is the shock caps... upgrade those. You'll also want to get a decent battery setup for the starter box. It does come with a NiMh setup for the receiver box, so you dont have to worry about that, unless you want to jump to lipo or LiFe batteries.

I just ordered a race roller... looking forward to breaking in a new GX motor with it.

One of my favourite things about Losi vehicles is the kit boxes that you can get. The shock parts box, clutch parts box, hardware box, etc. Regardless of what you're using the truck for, I think you should get those parts boxes.

My opinion is that neither the buggy or truggy are made from bashing. They are racing vehicles. The first thing that comes to mind in bashing is the backyard. Neither of these vehicles were made to really run in thicker grass. It plays heck on a clutch. Like others said, pick bashing or racing, or do your bashing at a local track. They are made to run on well prepped surfaces and the backyard or the farm field across the street is just a nice way to through your investment.

Well I have a decision. Get a SC10 or an 8ight 2.0 now.

If I decide to get the 8ight 2.0 then Ill just be able to afford the RTR, the glow ignitor, the fuel, the batteries and some spare tires at first.

Thats all you need to get started, you build from there. You will have way more fun with nitro than electri especially basahing. You dont have to buy spare tires right now. Dude wait til stuff break to replace it. The 2.0 is a tough truck. You will not be able to buy everything you see a racer with on the first go around, unless your ballin

Definately truggy. much easier to work on and a whole lot more fun then a monster truck. If you are buying an rtr get a couple extra receiver batteries, few extra glo plugs, buy a good glo plug ignitor (hot shot) and some fuel and go have fun.

I used to have a Savage XL 5.9, its a 1/8th Scale Bash Truck Extraordinaire. A real bad mutha.

But then I got a Losi 8IGHT 2.0 Buggy, started racing and the Savage just sat, so I sold it and have not regretted it yet.

For you I would go with the 8IGHT T 2.0 RTR, and get :

It will look a little goofy being the new tires and wheels are nearly 7" tall, and the stock truggy wheels and tires are 5.5" but it wont be too bad and you will gain some ride height.

You will probably need to regear in order to keep strain off your driveline and engine due to the larger mass and diameter of the new wheels.
