Need a little help, Just sold my revo 3.3, with picco reddot. I was lucky enough to build a track (115'x60). The revo absolutely was horrible on the track,too fast or i cant drive!. Well getting to the point. I want to race, I want more out of rc than bashing. I really like nitro, but this brushless stuff is appealing. I am looking to spend $1000 asap. I like the RTRS. What is my best option. Losi 8t 2.0 rtr, Rc8t RS RTR, or what ever. I am open to brushless, but is a E revo a race track rc? I drove RCS for yearh just always a parking lot type of guy. straight line screaming nitros. That was getting old to me, building this track has given me the ultimate respect for skilled RC drivers. This is my goal to become a local racer. Please guide me in the right direction. Thank a lot!
PS I run a lot, correct me if I am wrong. two batteries=$200 or so, charge time hour a piece? lot of downtime between runs? Please educate me.lol
I'd personally stay away from the RTRs... Based on my experience you almost always end up replacing something within the first few months and it turns out being cheaper to have just bought a kit and built it yourself from the beginning.
I'm assuming you want an 1/8th truggy. The Losi is a good choice if you have local parts support and others at the track are running them too. From my research and asking around at the track, certain parts tend to wear out really quick, but they are fast.
I'd stay away from electric given your budget. You need to add batteries and a decent charger to your list of items to get. If you want your batteries to last, you need to give them a cooling off period as well. Not supposed to charge a battery until it returns to room temperature. It will take an hour to recharge if you charge at 1C (at the rated capacity of the battery).
I think for $1,000 you won't be able to get everything you need for nitro either (assuming that you need the kit, engine, servos, radio gear, and supporting equipment). Probably need somewhere around the 1,200 - 1,300 mark. I'd say save up for a bit longer till you can manage that.
I would figure out where and what they race locally... What is the most popular class... (that seems to change from year to year at some tracks)
No point in buying one thing when they may not even race it...
Ok, just cleared a 1300 dollar budget. lol Racing at a LHS will be late next year. I want to practice on my track first. What do you guys think of the E-revo? I heard they can be programmed to run a certain speed for track? Thanks for the quick response!
in my area, the revo would be useless if youre going to race, there is no monster truck class anymore (i'm assuming it's the same everyware). so if you want to race, go with the 8t like you thought.
do you have anything that can be used for the truggy, or do you need to buy it all?
If your ready to jump into raceing skip the monster truck class (Revos) and go straight to a real race kit truggy or buggy. A$1200-1400 budget is doable, and you probally allready have some of this stuff.
i would look at the hotbodies d8 truggy a freind of mine drives one and he does very well with it he said it handles better than his mugen did and he won the pnb in 2007 with the mugen.

at our local track we have a pretty good mixture of truggies, losi, odonnell, and mugen for the most part. dont think that you can go wrong with either, and its always way handy if your lhs stocks parts for whatever you get, so i would consider that as well.
and if you should decided to buy something used on here, for god sakes please do some research on the seller before purchasing, it kills me to see all these people getting taken. i have had extremely good luck with used products from this site, and will continue to do buisiness on here.

$783 for all brand new stuff. Now since you have extra money you can look other things up and get better stuff like a starter box. I highly reccomend the ofna truggy box.
More tires and wheels, parts for your buggy,&more fuel
and since you are already running nitro you have fuel already.

gonna have to agree here, i have bought two motors used on here and was lucky. there are alot of nice mills you can buy new for 2 bills!
Just buy my Mugen MBX5T with only a handful of races on it....for $230 shipped to your door. Add a new motor and radio.....and spend the other $800 on cool accessories ;-) hehe
i am leaning towards electric. I just saw my buddies e-revo, and wow. thenhe hooked it up to a laptop, and slowed it way down for my track, looked good. Is that an option???? The e-revo that is....
