"solder properly" was the key word....i have buddy's that claim they can solder....but we all know what a poor joint looks like....ALL frayed and or too much solder...or even worst a cold solder that's waiting to fail.

I was using a chepo sears type iron and recently switched to a hakko soldering station. What a huge improvement it made the task almost fun. It devinatly made it easy. The right tools can make any job much easier, faster and more enjoyable.

I started using the hobbico torqmaster lc 12v battery in my started box, it works great! My question is, when it comes time to charge the battery, how do i charge it? Does hobbico make a wall charger for it?

Most newer chargers will charge lead acid batteries. Charge it at 2 amps for a slow charge and 6 amps for a fast charge. You can also use any automotive charger with something close to those settings.

Racer's Edge:

Hanger9:

Take your pick.

But wasn't this about LiPo batteries?

I've been thinking of taking two 2s packs and wiring them in parallel.

If i started a new thread somebody would have said something about starting a thread about starter box batteries when there is already a thread started! Sorry to cut into your "lipo thread". I appreciate the help thats what i was looking for.

Roger that. Not diggin' on you as much as pointing the thread conversation back towards the topic.

I wonder how much juice a 750 motor can take.

Thinking of getting a used 5000mA 5s pack, removing a cell, and using that.

everyone knows that 5000 mah is the same thing is 5 ah right?

Your recommended change does not change the intent of my statement:

Now w/the new syntax:

Anyone know if the change, to remove a cell from series; would work?

removing a cell is somewhat easy to do if you've ever taken apart a lipo...just be careful and save the crazy tape they use to wrap it back up when done.

4s 5000's are perfectly fine for most any starter box on the market.

yes, if you remove a cell from series, then the voltage will drop to minus the cells votage. if you remove a cell from parrallel, the you will drop the capacity....mah.

removing a cell is not reccomended. every manufacturer will tell you not to modify the pack in any way.

just remeber this, some packs are configured with cells in parallel with each other, and then in series with another set of parallel cells.

so be very careful. a 5s pack that is 5000mah may need 2 lower capacity cells to make the 5000mah cpacity, therefore being 10 cells thick. i doubt this is the case on a pack of this size, i see it in smaller packs.

i have a common sense rx lipo that is 7.4 volts, and it is 4 cells thick. which means it is 2s2p which means 2 cells in parallel that are in series with another set of 2 cells in parallel.

hope this helps.

Crystal clear. I get the 2s1p vs 2s2p thing.

Biggest hurdle was "is there a circuit board" or some other "feature" that I might run into.

Maybe on "special" packs, but it sounds like the exception, not the rule.

Thanks for the heads up.

4s LiPo should be okay to run either Single 775, Dual 775, or Dual 550's, right?

775 motor runs fine for 4s. It is rated for up to 18v. 550 only rated to 14.4v
